Dear members and friends:
What a Kickoff for Season Eight! More than 150 members and their guests gathered at The Kane Center in Stuart to hear about our plans for the season ahead and broaden our horizons for the possibilities that lie ahead.
Attendees met our 2024-2025 Board of Directors and heard about our top three strategic imperatives for the year:
1. Increase the quantity and quality of grant applications so we can be the best, most courageous grant-makers we can be, thinking like investors.
2. Align our member experience with our mission to create a vibrant and inclusive environment where members can connect, learn and contribute.
3. Strengthen our infrastructure as a nonprofit organization to earn and maintain your trust in our integrity and operating efficiency.
We loved hearing from Ellyn Stevenson, co-founder of Impact100 Martin and Board Chair of The Community Foundation Martin-St. Lucie on the state of nonprofits in Martin County. Carrie Morgridge, our hometown hero, dazzled us as the Keynote Speaker, helping us unleash our unique superpowers to “learn, lead, and liberate” in our quest for community transformation.
I hope you will take a few minutes to read the Kickoff recap prepared by our Events Committee, watch the event replay, and join me in thanking them for planning and hosting our best Kickoff ever!
In this edition you will find the flyer for our Member Engagement events for the year so you can register and invite your “plus-one”. We are so excited about the new array of ways you can connect and learn. I hope to see you at our featured December event “Impactful Conversations about the Arts”. These dialogues are fun ways to connect with other members, but essential to learning about the nonprofits in Martin County and sharpening our skills as courageous investors in community transformation.
As we head into the holiday season, please know how thankful we are for your membership, your advocacy and your generosity no matter the form it takes. Happy Thanksgiving!
With gratitude for your generosity no matter the form it takes,
| | Maureen Cotter, President | |
On November 7, 2024, we gathered for Impact100 Martin’s highly anticipated annual kickoff event, where excitement and energy filled the room! Our community of women philanthropists came together at The Kane Center to launch another impactful year, united by our commitment to making a difference in Martin County. Attendees enjoyed an evening of connection, inspiration and insight from our speakers. Impact100 Board members provided information on exciting events and changes in this upcoming year. Founder Ellyn Stevenson updated attendees on the state of nonprofits in our community, and toasted how far we have come since 2017. Carrie Morgridge, our keynote speaker, showed us how to use our unique super powers to create change in our community. Thanks to her generous donation, many attendees received a signed copy of her book, Every Gift Matters. Carrie’s motivational speech has set the stage for an amazing year ahead for Impact100 Martin!

ARC of the Treasure Coast - The Caring Café Ribbon Cutting
The grant from Impact100 Martin has helped the ARC of the Treasure Coast make their dream a reality. Alice’s Restaurant, A Caring Café, is up and running. Clients are trained in various facets of working in a restaurant. Some will remain working at Alice’s and others will be able to work in others restaurants because of the training received.
The restaurant has been update and is bright and cheery. The menu includes a sandwich named in honor of Impact100. Below is a description of the yummy sandwich, along with a brief description how everything came together to make it all possible!
THE IMPACT100 VEGGIES WITH HUMMUS 13 Avocado, spinach, red onion, mushrooms, hard boiled egg, cucumber and carrots
The ARC of the Treasure Coast acquired Alice’s Restaurant in November of 2023. The Caring Café is a new expansion into the food service industry, training and employing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities under the guidance of the ARC of the Treasure Coast. The Caring Café program addresses the industry wide staffing shortages, low incomes, and the unemployment rates of people with disabilities. ACC uses the Boar’s Head Corp training module focusing on all aspects of working in food service. The intensive training of individuals with disabilities and low income clientele is focused on employment preparedness. Was your first introduction to Impact100 at a Meet & Mingle? Wasn’t it fun to sit around the living room or the fire pit with a glass of wine chatting with your friends and neighbors and then listening to a short but informative presentation about Impact 100 and the good work we do in the community by a member of the Membership and Grants committee?
If we are going to reach our goal of 500 members this year so that we can give out five $100,000 grants to five local non profits, we need you to think about hosting a Meet & Mingle for your book club, Bible study group, neighbors, tennis team, bridge friends, or golf group.
Don’t be shy, just send out some invitations, make some snacks, open some wine and get a group of 5-20 gals together in December, January or February. The Membership team will assign a representative to do the hard work by making the presentation and doing all the talking!
So easy, so fun and when your friends join Impact100, you will feel so proud!
Contact communitycaptain@impact100martin.org to put your Meet & Mingle date on the calendar!

Meet New York born and raised, Patty Dapontes who moved to Stuart four years ago and has been a member of Impact100 Martin for three years.
Instilled with traditional Greek family values, surrounded by a family of entrepreneurs, Patty sought to fill a void between physical therapy and the fitness world. This led her to create Pilates for EVERY Body in 2006, a Pilates studio predominantly focused on pre-post spinal surgery, hip/knee/shoulder replacements and a host of other orthopedic issues.
She finds true fulfillment helping others feel their optimal wellbeing through the physical, mental, and entrepreneurial rewards of Pilates.
Patty lends her talents to both the Communications and Membership Committees. She shares Community Captain responsibilities for Downtown Stuart with Sara Hamilton. She was invited to join and inspired by Jennifer Eaton’s vivacious spirit and energy. She aspires to bring the same vitality to all her involvement with Impact100 Martin.
Patty believes gratitude is what keeps us resilient. As a former professional dancer, she believes success comes from discipline and grace. That is the standard she puts into practice for her health, her family life and her business.
“How you do anything is how you do everything" — Martha Beck

There will be time to enjoy the exhibit and be festive by dressing in black and white for the event.
It's Not All Black & White
An exhibition showcasing Fine Art and Sculpture in all media that is executed using primarily Black and White. The collection celebrates the striking contrast and harmony these two shades create, highlighting the depth and complexity that can be achieved without the use of color. Each piece invites the viewer to explore the nuances of light and shadow, texture and form, and the emotional resonance that monochromatic art can evoke.
We look forward to hearing about the opportunities and community impact the Arts are having in Martin County and are grateful to hear from each of these leaders in the Arts Community:
- Dana Kimberly, President of Danforth Development will share “Why it’s Important to Give to the Arts”
- Nancy Turrell, CEO of Martin Arts will present the “State of the Arts” in Martin County
- Elise Raffa, Community Development Coordinator for Martin County will update us on the plans for Art in Public Places
There will be time for networking and questions.
Cost: $15 for boxed lunch in the Courtyard
