Welcome to Impact Connection! This monthly email will share stories about our high impact grants, offer information about the important issues surrounding the nonprofits, and connect you to the organizations and leaders making a difference in our community.

On November 16, Impact100 Metro Detroit hosted over 60 different organizations at our Nonprofit Grant Information Session. We provided potential grantees with all the info needed to complete our grant application. In addition, the nonprofits heard directly from 2020 and 2021 grantees on what the awards have meant to their organizations.

Deb Drennan, CEO of Freedom House Detroit, quoted above, summed up what we have heard from so many of our other grantees over the years as well. The $100,000 is a starting point, one that leads to more recognition, more grants, and more completed projects than the one we funded that started it all. We are constantly amazed by our grantees and what they continue to achieve long after our grant is spent.

Helping the Helpers

In 2019, Zaman International received our $100,000 grant award to fund their new culinary arts program. With a new commercial kitchen, equipment, and a delivery van, the program took off and Zaman grew. The result? Rising Hope Bakery. This holiday season we can all contiue to support this project by ordering cookies. This week ONLY! We can support Accent Pontiac in there drive to fund a guest artist for the Rock 'n' Arts program. Click the graphic above for a video of the 2019 event where kids were able to perform live on stage at the Flagstar Strand Theater with The Reminders. The kids in the video linked above illustrate the incredible impact that the guest artist experience has on their lives. Donations made this week will be matched by Arts Midwest, so your gift will have double the impact!

Grantee Events and Wish Lists

Freedom House Detroit

Asylum seekers often arrive with just the clothes on their backs and little else. Shopping through Amazon for basic necessities that are delivered directly to Freedom House is an easy way for our members to help.

Micah 6 Community

is hosting a Santa's Workshop for their Pontiac neighborhood and could use our help stocking the store with items for parents to purchase. Visit their WEBSITE for a list of items they can use as well as the link to their Amazon page.

The Lawn Academy

is looking for donations to help their new (Impact100 Metro Detroit-funded) east side hub grow. Also needed, volunteers with math skills to lead virtual 1.5 hour help sessions for students Visit their WEBSITE to contribute (scroll down on the page to see the volunteer opportunity.

Brilliant Detroit

has a holiday wishlist you can help fulfill. They appreciate donations of children's books, baby supplies, school supplies and gently used clothing and household items. They also welcome monetary donations. To help in any way, click this LINK to their donation page.

Developing K.I.D.S

Help the organization continue to grow by supporting their End-of-Year giving campaign now through January 3, 2022. With the need increasing every day, and every dollar will allow them to open the program to more children in need of academic and mentoring support. Donate HERE.

Join the Team

The 2022 Grant Award season has officially launched! From now until January 14th, local nonprofits can apply for a $100,000 grant to fuel transformation in our community. At the close of the application period, the important work of reviewing the grant proposals will begin. As always, our grant review teams are made up of our members. By serving on a grant review committee, you help decide where our $100,000 grants will have the greatest impact. Our virtual meetings are easy to attend and scheduled based on member availability.
