Greetings!

I want to start off by wishing everyone a restful long weekend and Memorial Day this coming Monday. As we enjoy the long weekend, we will keep all our service members, humanitarians, aid workers, and first responders in mind. Our staff in local offices have been working hard to support students and their families during times of crisis and hopelessness. As many of you know, we had a successful Facebook fundraiser, where more than 7,000 people donated over $270,000. At the same time, hundreds of others sent more than $100,000 directly to our office. We are humbled by the level of support that has allowed our team on the ground to expand its activities. Please read a brief report of our upcoming plans below.

Let us not forget about the tremendous damage the floods have caused and the casualties that it has resulted in. While the aftermath of the floods is not making front-page news, let us keep in mind the massive amount of destruction that was caused and how long-term assistance is required. Please continue supporting our efforts by donating to our campaign and educating others on the aftermath of this natural disaster.

In gratitude,

Kamyar Lashgari

Flood Update
Child Foundation's strategic plan includes financially supporting at least 1,500 children and their families so they can focus on rebuilding their lives. Needless to say, if we are able to raise more funds, more families will be covered. After six months, we will evaluate each family’s situation, and if the children qualify for our programs, we will continue to provide them with (financial) academic scholarships.

We are also working on equipping schools with needed educational equipment and materials. According to UNICEF, over 1,000 schools have been damaged or destroyed, losing most of their equipment, such as computers, fax machines, books, lab equipment, etc. due to flooding. In coordination with local education authorities, Child Foundation will purchase and equip schools with needed educational equipment and materials so that children are able to get back to school and finish off the school year.

We are also helping students with school supplies and stationary so that they are able to finish the school year. There are thousands of students who need to complete their school year within a month, but they lack basic school supplies and stationary. Child Foundation had already started this project by providing over 3,000 packages for children so they can finish their school year without having to worry about replacing their supplies that were destroyed in the floods. Education is one of the greatest tools out of poverty, and we want to make sure students do not fall back on their studies. You can donate to our campaign by clicking here .
