Dear Parents:

We hope everyone is doing well. We are continuing to plan for our re-opening and look forward to seeing all of you this fall.

Families and staff play a vital role in maintaining the health of our community. We're all in this together and each of our actions impact the larger community as a whole. In the coming weeks we will share detailed health and safety guidelines that are imperative for all families to understand and follow in order to mitigate the risk of transmission of COVID-19 in our community.

New York State COVID-19 Travel Advisory - Required Quarantine

We want to make sure that you are all aware of the New York State COVID-19 Travel Advisory . In response to increased rates of COVID-19 transmission in certain states within the United States, and to protect New York’s successful containment of COVID-19, the State of New York has joined with New Jersey and Connecticut in jointly issuing a travel advisory for anyone returning from travel to states that have a significant degree of community-wide spread of COVID-19. As of today, there are 35 states and Washington, D.C. on this list.

If you will be visiting one of these locations, you are required to quarantine for 14 days before returning to school.

In-Person Student Orientation - Date Change

We understand that many of our families and staff will need time to quarantine and have therefore moved the date of our in-person student orientations to the first week of the school year. This will provide all students the opportunity to meet their teachers and pod members and to learn and practice new protocols and routines. We want to take the necessary time to ensure that everyone in our community has a thorough understanding of our policies and protocols, which are the key to sustaining the health of our community.

Orientation for 1st-8th Grades:

On September 8th and 9th , students will have an in-person component one day and a remote component on the other day. Exact timing will be sent in August. September 10th will be the first full day of school for 1st-8th grades.

Orientation for Kindergarten:

On September 8th and 9th , we will hold 20-minute meetings via Zoom for each individual kindergarten family to meet the kindergarten teaching team. On September 10th and 11th , we will have 2.5 hour in-person orientations by pods (all the children in one pod will attend at a time). Exact timing will be sent in August. Monday, September 14th will be the first full day for kindergarten .

Please take time to answer this very quick survey about guidelines for our school community outside school hours and parent volunteer opportunities.

Thank you for your continued flexibility as we navigate this unprecedented time.
