Important: Changes to Unit Renewal Dates
Dear Unit Leaders,
Scouting America is changing the unit renewal process so that all units will eventually renew in February.
What’s changing?
Beginning with units that expire in October 2026 or later, units will transition to the new February renewal cycle.
During this transition:
-
The unit renewal fee is $8.50 per month.
-
Your unit may need to pay for additional months of renewal so that its expiration date moves to February.
- Youth and adult registration fees are not changing.
- Once your unit reaches the February renewal cycle, future renewals will follow the normal February schedule.
What do I need to do?
Nothing different. When you complete your unit renewal, simply be prepared for the unit renewal portion of the fee to be higher than usual.
The increase is because your unit may be paying for several additional months to move its expiration date to February. The maximum additional unit renewal amount during this transition is approximately $34.
An example
If your unit currently expires on October 31, 2026, you will renew beginning November 1, 2026.
Instead of renewing for just one year, your unit will renew through February 29, 2028. This covers the 4 additional months needed to move your unit onto the February renewal schedule.
At $8.50 per month, the transition period may result in a higher unit renewal fee than you are used to seeing.
The important thing to remember:
Your unit is not being charged a new fee just because of the change. The unit is paying for the additional months needed to move its renewal date to February.
Thank you for your patience and continued support of Scouting America and our youth and units.

Service in Action: We Want to Hear From You!
Scouting is all about service, and our Scouts are making a difference in communities across Greater Los Angeles.
From participating in Relay for Life to support cancer research or helping families prepare for the holiday season through a Scouting for Food campaign, there are countless ways our units are putting the Scout Oath and Law into action.
Recently, Troop 509 took their service to Hubert Eaton Scout Reservation. During their campout, the Scouts rolled up their sleeves and lent a hand by cleaning up Pollock Campfire Bowl. With overgrown weeds taking over the area, it was no small task—but the Scouts got to work and helped restore the space for future campers to enjoy.
What service project does your unit have coming up? Whether you're serving your local community, supporting a nonprofit, helping at a Scouting property, or simply lending a hand where it's needed, we want to hear about it!
Share your upcoming service project or tell us about a recent project your unit completed so we can help give your Scouts the recognition they deserve and showcase the incredible service happening throughout Greater Los Angeles.
Send your service project information and photos to:

32 Miles. 6 Days. 9,735 Feet. One Epic Adventure.
Troop 310G, a high-adventure, all-girls troop from Torrance, took on the breathtaking Desolation Wilderness near Lake Tahoe for a six-day, 32-mile backpacking adventure—and these Scouts came ready to climb!
Along the way, they tackled changing weather, rugged terrain, steep climbs, and even a few slips and falls. Their biggest challenge? Reaching the 9,735-foot summit of Mount Tallac after conquering an incredible 6,260 feet of elevation gain!
And after each day of hard-earned miles, there was a pretty great reward waiting: a pristine alpine lake for a refreshing swim and a chance to fill their water bottles with crisp, cold mountain water.
But this adventure was about more than miles and elevation. It was about teamwork, perseverance, grit, and pushing through when the trail got tough. The Scouts supported one another every step of the way and proved that sometimes the best views come after the hardest climbs.
One mountain conquered. Countless memories made. And a whole lot of adventure along the way.
