Actualización acerca del plan de sostenibilidad financiera

Timeline Update: Board to Continue Sustainability Plan Discussion November 9; No Action Will be Taken at this Meeting

Given the significance of the decisions ahead, board leadership and district administration believe it is important to allow additional time for discussion and consideration of the proposed financial sustainability plan. Our discussion will continue at the November 9 meeting, with a vote anticipated on November 16 regarding whether to commence the public hearing process for possible school closures.

The administration has worked extensively to develop a comprehensive proposal to address the district's urgent financial challenge and the Board has an important responsibility to independently review and evaluate the recommendations before taking action.

We recognize how difficult these decisions are and the impact on our students, staff, families, and our broader community. We share a commitment to approaching them with care and thoughtful consideration, while remaining focused on the long-term stability and future of our schools.

November 6 Boundary Proposal

District 65 is sharing an updated attendance boundary proposal, dated November 6, reflecting additional community feedback and continued review by our team. Thank you to the many families and community members who have taken the time to share their perspectives through our surveys and email, ask thoughtful questions, and help us better understand the impact of potential changes. Please know that we are listening and your input continues to inform this process.

Developing attendance boundaries is complex and involves much more than drawing lines on a map. We must consider how boundaries will serve students, families, and our schools both now and in the years ahead. Our priorities include limiting changes for students and families, particularly those who have already experienced school closures or boundary changes, minimizing travel distances and transportation needs, and balancing enrollment across schools while planning for long-term sustainability.

We recognize how personal these potential changes are for families and appreciate your continued engagement. We know we may not be able to address every concern, but we are committed to listening, carefully considering the feedback we receive, and making decisions that best serve students and our school communities for years to come.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

With appreciation,

Eric Witherspoon, Ph.D.

Interim Superintendent

Student Impact: November 6 Boundary Proposal

For those interested in better understanding how the proposed attendance boundary changes could impact students, this page provides a closer look at the number of students who would be assigned to a different school under the November 6 proposal. The information focuses on current kindergarten through fourth grade students and helps illustrate the potential impact across our school communities.
