Groot Industries Becomes New Village Refuse Collector

As the Village transitions to Groot Industries for garbage and recycling collection, we wanted to share a few important updates to help you prepare. If you haven’t already received one, a letter from Groot with additional details will be arriving in the mail soon.

Your service with Groot is already set up and will continue at your current level.

🗓 Service Transition Timeline

• Final Waste Management Pickup: Wednesday, March 26

• Waste Management Bin Removal: Begins Thursday, March 27 (Please leave empty WM bins at the curb for removal)

• First Groot Pickup: Monday, March 31

• New Collection Day: Monday (for all Long Grove residents)

🗑 Bin Distribution & Usage

New Groot waste and recycling bins are now being delivered. During the transition, you may temporarily have two sets of bins.

Special Alert:

If you are out of town for spring break, an additional container collection day has been scheduled with Waste Management on April 2, 2025.

Please make arrangements to have your trash bins available for this accommodation.

📦 Refuse & Recycling Program Options

Refuse Collection (Quarterly Rates):

• Unlimited Service (95-gal refuse cart): $61.50

• Limited Service (35-gal refuse cart): $51.75 (Additional bags require $3.50 sticker per item)

• Limited Service (65-gal refuse cart): $57.00

Recycling Carts:

• All residents receive a 65-gallon recycling cart

• Option to upgrade to a 95-gallon recycling cart available

🌿 Yard Waste & Food Scrap Collection

(April 1 – November 30, 2025)

Option 1: Sticker Program

Rate: $2.50 per sticker

Affix one sticker to each 32-gallon or smaller container or Kraft paper yard waste bag (max 50 lbs)

Food scraps must be placed in rigid containers (no bags)

Option 2: Subscription Program

Annual Rate: $195.00

Place up to six containers or bags weekly

(max 32 gallons and 50 lbs each)

Items beyond six require stickers

Includes unlimited leaf collection during the 6-week fall program

(mid-October start)

Food scraps must be placed in rigid containers

👵 Senior Citizen Discount

Residents 65 and older are eligible for a 15% discount on limited or unlimited service.
