IMPORTANT:   Updates from CASA Program on CoVID-19/Coronavirus

The CASA program and District Court staff are continuing to evaluate and implement measures to slow the spread of the CoVID-19/Coronavirus infection in our community. Per Chief Judge Linda Bell ’s Administrative Order 20- 0 2, of March 16, 2020, the Eighth Judicial District Court is discontinuing all In-person meetings, gatherings, and conducting court business through social distancing, i.e., through telephone calls/emails, and/or participating in court hearings via telephone, teleconferencing and videoconferencing.

We are mindful that there will be some interruptions in how we conduct business through the CASA Program. Until further notice:   We are suspending all in- person visits to the CASA office, CASA orientations, CASA volunteer interviews, pre-service and inservice trainings, CASA Night Outs and Peer Coordinators meetings. As it relates to how you conduct your CASA duties, i.e., face to face visits with your CASA children, attendance at meetings/staffings, court appearance, etc., please utilize telephone calls, text and emails, as your way to maintain communication with your Peer Coordinators, CASA supervisors, CASA children, caregivers, caseworkers, and others members of the team. Continue to document all of your contacts in OPTIMA.

Please notify your CASA supervisor if you are not able to attend court via telephone or video conferencing We will include notes into OPTIMA under the HEARING tab, following your court hearings.   It is more important than ever to submit your CASA Court reports in a timely manner, so that the Judges and Hearing Masters, and all parties have time to review them prior to the hearings.

Please check your emails, text messages and CASA social media daily, as new developments may occur. At this time, the CASA program office will remain open. If you are uncertain about anything, please feel free to call the office.
Be safe!
