NEW for 2026-27

RUSD Cell Phone Policy

Beginning Sept. 1, RUSD will implement a new student cell phone policy in alignment with Wisconsin’s 2025 Act 42. The policy is designed to reduce classroom distractions, increase student engagement and help students build healthy technology habits that support success inside and outside the classroom.

Under the new policy, K–8 students must turn off and store personal wireless devices away from their person throughout the school day. High school students must keep devices turned off and out of reach during class, with use permitted during passing periods and open lunch.

Early Release Wednesdays

Beginning this fall, schools will release one hour early most Wednesdays to give educators dedicated time to collaborate, review student data, and plan together through professional learning communities. Research shows this type of teacher collaboration helps improve student learning and achievement.

To support this transition, RUSD has updated school start and end times, adjusted Wednesday bus schedules, and expanded after-school options for families who need additional support.
