Beginning of the 2025–26 Year Information

We cannot wait to see our returning and new students and families back on campus!

A Message from the Carondelet Leadership Team

Dear Carondelet Families,

As the Carondelet community enjoys the rest, fun, and adventure that summer brings, we hope you're finding time to reconnect and recharge in anticipation of an exciting year ahead. While we’re still soaking up the slower pace of summer, we wanted to share important information, updates, and reminders to help your family prepare for the start of the 2025–26 school year.

The Beginning of the Year and Frequently Asked Questions web pages contain everything students and families need to know, so we encourage you to save this email and refer back to it in the coming weeks.

We’re excited to welcome everyone back to campus—especially the newest members of our vibrant community: our incoming freshmen, transfer students, and talented new colleagues. We’ll be in touch again in early August with more updates, but in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions about the return to school.

Enjoy the rest of summer and see you soon!

In Unifying Love,

The Carondelet Leadership Team

All 9th-grade students will receive a Carondelet lock and will be assigned a locker for the 2025–26 school year. Locks and locker assignments will be distributed on Orientation day.

10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students can opt-in to a locker this year. This process will take place on Orientation day and during the first week of school.

Physicals

Incoming freshmen and transfer students are required to submit a physical form to their enrollment portal prior to the start of school. Make sure to save a digital copy for your records. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Attendance Coordinator Nicole Ebert.

If your student plans to try out for a sport, you will need to create an account in our Athletics Registration system and upload her physical. Parents/guardians are required to complete this step.

Medications/Illness Form

If your student has a life-threatening illness or takes medication at school, please complete the Student Medications form and submit it to Attendance Coordinator Nicole Ebert by the start of the school year.

Please be sure to read the updated iPad Guidelines in the Technology section below.

Follow these instructions and select "Carondelet High School (Concord)" from the dropdown menu in MySchoolBucks. If you have any questions setting up your account, please contact Epicurean directly by emailing General Manager Candace Barnes. View the Garaventa Cafe webpage for more information about food options and Epicurean.

Used Uniform Sale

The Carondelet Parents Guild is hosting a used uniform sale on Monday, August 11, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Garaventa. The Class of 2029 and transfer students will have private access from 1:00 to 1:30 PM before we open up the sale to the entire community. This is a great opportunity to purchase discounted spirit wear and uniform pieces. No skirts will be sold at this event.

Senior Portraits with Prestige Photography by Lifetouch

If you did not take your portraits on July 7, 8, or 9 on campus, do not worry. We will have make-up sessions on campus on November 3 and 4 (1:30 to 10:00 PM) or you can set up an appointment at the studio. Please contact Yearbook Advisor Faith Ripoli with any questions or visit the Beginning of the Year webpage for more information.

Transportation

Morning Shuttle

School-managed bus transportation is available in the mornings from the Tri-Valley area with communal stops in Livermore, Pleasanton, and Danville on the way to Carondelet.

Registration is available to all current Carondelet students (and De La Salle students who are siblings of current Carondelet students.) If there is availability, registration will be opened up to all other De La Salle students.

Rates are $1,400 for the school year. Morning shuttle service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis (and there are only approximately six spaces still available)! View more information and reserve your student’s spot on the Transportation webpage.

Carpool Directory

If you would like to be added to our carpool directory please send an email to Admissions Associate Sonia Wilson. We will add you to our directory and share it with you.

Student Parking

For those students who have already secured a parking space for the 2025–26 school year, parking tags will be available at Orientation. For students who were placed on the waiting list this spring, please email Dean of Students Caitlin Main ’05 once you have a valid driver’s license to update your position on our waiting list.

Academic Schedule Changes

Students were issued their schedule the week of June 10. Schedule changes were processed at the end of June and early July by appointment. If students want to make changes they can still make an appointment during Orientation Days for an in-person meeting with Dr. Chaponot to make a change to their schedule (see instructions below). Once school starts, they will have a little under two weeks to make adjustments.

Summer Schedule Change Instructions

Follow all 3 steps

Step 1: Review Class Availability

  • Some courses have been cancelled or are already full. Before requesting a schedule change, check the class availability document to confirm whether the class you're interested in is still running and has space. The document will be updated regularly.
  • Note: Even if space is available, your individual schedule may not permit the change due to conflicts.

Step 2: Make Appointment

Step 3: Submit a Schedule Change Form

A Schedule Change Form is required for all requests.

  • Please submit the form no later than the day before your appointment.
  • If your request is simple and can be processed virtually, you may not need to come to campus.
  • If you arrive without submitting the form, you will be asked to fill it out on-site, which will reduce your appointment time.

Athletics

Athletics Leadership Update

As we get ready for the start of the school year, we want to share that Steve Stokes has moved on from his role at Carondelet. We’re thankful for the time and energy he brought to Cougar Athletics and wish him all the best.

Over the summer, we were committed to finding the right leader for our Athletics program. We focused our search on someone who will support our student-athletes, partner with coaches, and align with our school’s mission. We’re excited to share that we have hired Alisa Payne as our new Athletics Director, and we look forward to welcoming her to Carondelet when she officially starts on Monday, July 21.

We’ll be sharing a more formal introduction to Alisa in August as the school year kicks off.

In the meantime, if you have any program-specific questions, please continue reaching out to Associate Director of Athletics Cat Arroyo.

We are excited to welcome everyone back to cheer on the Cougars! Please refer to the Carondelet Athletics Website for the listing of the seasons of sport.

Per the 2025–26 NCS calendar, fall sports tryouts will be conducted the week of August 11. All students interested in participating in a fall sport should make arrangements to be fully prepared to try out for the teams they are interested in during the week of tryouts. Please note that only students who have been cleared for athletics participation (see the Athletics Registration webpage) will be permitted to try out.

Afternoon Shuttle Schedule from Campus to the Carondelet Athletics Complex (CAC)

During the 2025–26 school year, Carondelet students will have free, one-way transportation to the CAC after school. There is no cost and no need to pre-register. There is no return service to the main campus from the CAC later in the evening. More information can be found on the Carondelet website: Carondelet Shuttle. Students will meet for the afternoon ride on the sidewalk of Winton Drive in front of the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation. The shuttle will depart campus 20 minutes after the last bell, no matter the day's schedule.

School Communications

Emergency Notifications by Text Message

In the event of a schoolwide emergency, Carondelet has the capability to alert parents/guardians via email, phone call, and/or text messaging through a service called SchoolMessenger. In order for you to receive text messages from Carondelet in an emergency situation, you must opt in to this service.

To opt in now, text “Y” or “Yes” to 67587.

If you believe you’ve already opted in, you can text “Y” or “Yes” to 67587 again to confirm your status. If you previously had a student at a school that uses SchoolMessenger (such as De La Salle), your opt-in may already be active—unless you chose to opt out.

We will notify families and students of periodic tests before they happen. Please direct any questions to the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications Jill Okimoto.

Changing Contact Info

If you need to change any of your personal information, please complete the Request to Change Demographic Information form. Please contact Registrar Nattiel Arias for emergency contact and medical changes.

PowerSchool and Schoology Access

Class of 2029 and new transfer student families should receive an email on July 21 at 3:00 PM regarding access to PowerSchool and Schoology. If you are a new parent/guardian and don’t receive the email, or would like to add an email address, please reach out to Registrar Nattiel Arias.

Technology

Academic Technology Update: Focused iPad Use for 2025–26

For the upcoming 2025–26 school year, Carondelet is unifying our academic technology strategy. The iPad will be the primary, required device for daily classroom use across all grade levels, ensuring consistent implementation and a streamlined learning experience (see Educational Technology policies).

Why This Focused Approach?

While laptops are valuable for independent study, the iPad is our chosen primary classroom tool because it:

  • Supports essential learning: Offers digital textbooks, accessible reading features, and efficient note-taking with kinesthetic benefits for retention and digital organization
  • Fosters creativity & collaboration: Ideal for multimedia projects and interactive group work
  • Ensures focused learning: Allows for central management and security, minimizing distractions during instruction and testing

What This Means for Your Student:

  • Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors: Your school-issued iPad will be used exclusively during the school day. Laptop carts will be provided for specific computer-intensive classes (e.g., AP Computer Science)
  • Seniors: Must bring your iPad daily for core classes and assessments. You may also bring a personal laptop for supplemental use
  • Standardized Testing: All on-campus standardized tests (AP, PSAT, Digital SAT) will require iPads for consistency and compatibility

Tips for a Successful iPad Experience:

  • Charge Daily: Establish a habit of charging your iPad every night to ensure it's ready for the school day
  • Consider a Reliable Keyboard: We recommend a keyboard that does not rely on Bluetooth or internal batteries, such as a plug-in keyboard or the Logitech combo cases with a trackpad and detachable keyboard, for consistent functionality

Read more about our Educational Technology policies. If there is an issue with a school-issued device, please contact Michelle Koski ’98 in the Library.
