Carondelet Parent Coffee Connections

The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors remains one of our highest priorities.

Over the past three school years, Carondelet has partnered with Joffe Emergency Services and local law enforcement to strengthen campus safety through enhanced access control, updated emergency procedures, improved emergency communications, and expanded safety training.

As the next step in this ongoing effort, we will implement controlled campus access during the school day beginning the first day of school. These changes are not in response to a specific incident, but rather part of our commitment to proactive safety planning and continuous improvement.

New Front Entrance Procedures

Beginning on the first day of school, Friday, August 14, Carondelet will implement new front entrance procedures as part of our ongoing commitment to campus safety. 

Families can expect controlled campus access during the school day, a staffed welcome booth, and visitor check-in procedures.

A detailed communication with gate hours, visitor information, and student pick-up procedures will be sent later this summer.

New Emergency Text Message Notifications

In the event of a schoolwide emergency, Carondelet has the capability to alert parents/guardians via email, phone call, and/or text messaging through our new communication service called BrightArrow, which is integrated with PowerSchool. 

In order for you to receive text messages from Carondelet in an emergency situation, you must opt in to this service. To opt in now, text YES to 79041.

If you believe you have opted in previously, you can send the same text mentioned above to confirm your membership. If your child previously attended a school that uses BrightArrow (including De La Salle), then your opt-in is already complete.

We will notify families and students of periodic tests before they happen. Please direct any questions regarding BrightArrow via email to the Director of Educational Technology Katie Almonte.

Schedules and Calendars

On Friday, August 14, we’ll host our first day of classes for the school year. All classes will meet for 45 minutes. This first day is meant to be a welcome check-in where teachers introduce the course and review class-specific expectations.

Bell Schedule

Locks & Lockers

All 9th-grade students will have the opportunity to receive a Carondelet lock and locker for the 2026–27 school year. More information will be provided at Orientation. 

All 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students can opt in to a locker this year. This process will take place on Orientation Day and during the first week of school. 

Physicals

Incoming freshmen and transfer students are required to submit a physical form to their enrollment portal prior to the start of school. Make sure to save a digital copy for your records. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Attendance Coordinator, Nicole Ebert.

If your student plans to try out for a sport, you will need to create an account in our Athletics Registration system and upload her physical. Parents/guardians are required to complete this step.

Medications/Illness Form

If your student has a life-threatening illness or takes medication at school, please complete the Student Medications form and submit it to Attendance Coordinator Nicole Ebert by the start of the school year.

We have made a few updates to the 2026–27 Student Handbook. Please be sure to review it, especially the Parental Cooperation, Attendance Expectations, and Uniforms and Appearance Code sections.

Lunch: MySchoolBucks by Epicurean

Epicurean provides high-quality, healthy meals for Carondelet’s students, faculty, and staff to purchase. Current students who have a MySchoolBucks account can add money to their account now. New students can add money to their account once they have received their student school ID number (in early August). Follow these instructions and select "Carondelet High School (Concord)" from the dropdown menu in MySchoolBucks. If you have any questions setting up your account, please contact Epicurean directly by emailing General Manager Candace Barnes. New this year, we recommend that all students upload a photo to their MySchoolBucks profile page. This help ensures account security when students are checking out at the cafe.

Frosh Orientation

Students will be welcomed by peer counselors and rotate through stations to receive class schedules, take school photos, receive locker assignments, tour campus, meet school staff, and pick up pre-ordered spirit wear.

To order photo packages: visit Studio One Photography. You can pre-order your packages now or order them at any point in the year.

Drop-off: Near the Chapel Lawn and Gym. Gym doors will open at 8:00 AM. Students who arrive early may gather in the Amp.

Pick-up: Parents arriving before the 12:30 PM dismissal should park behind the Gym in any available space.

Seniors will also take their panoramic class photo and participate in car decorating.

Used Uniform Sale

The Carondelet Parents Guild is hosting a used uniform sale on Wednesday, August 12, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation. The Class of 2030 and transfer students will have private access from 1:00 to 1:30 PM before we open up the sale to the entire community. This is a great opportunity to purchase discounted spirit wear and uniform pieces. We will have a very limited amount of skirts at the event.

Senior Portraits

We are pleased to announce that Studio One Photography has been selected as the official senior portrait photographer for the Class of 2027. Preserving and capturing senior memories is important to all of us at Carondelet High School, and we are confident you will be pleased with the professional service and high-quality products Studio One provides.

You will receive an email from Studio One Photography with a scheduling link. Please book your appointment as soon as possible.

If you did not take your Senior Portraits during June, do not worry! You can schedule your appointment at the Studio One Photography studio in Dublin. Please call (925) 361-0430 or email cs@studio1experience.com. We will also have make-up appointments available on November 12 and 13. We will let you know when booking for those dates becomes available.

Senior Yearbook Attire

Students should wear one of the following for their yearbook portrait:

• Black drape (provided by Studio One Photography)
• Plain black dress or black button-up shirt (provided by the student)

Please make every effort to be photographed as early as possible. Students who delay scheduling their portraits risk being left out of the yearbook. Our goal is to have every member of the Class of 2027 represented in the yearbook. This portrait will also be used for the wall composite and graduation slideshow.

Senior Panoramic Ordering

The link for the Senior Panoramic will become available in late August. Please contact Faith Ripoli, Yearbook Advisor, with any questions.

Morning Shuttle

We have two morning shuttles available for students:

• 580/680 Shuttle has three stops near the highway in Livermore, Pleasanton, and Danville. 
• Highway 24 Shuttle has three stops near the highway in Rockridge, Orinda, and Lafayette. 

Registration is available to all current Carondelet and De La Salle students (with priority for CHS students).  If there is availability, registration will be opened up to all other DLS students.

Rates are $1,500 for the school year. Morning shuttle service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. View more information and reserve your student’s spot on the Transportation webpage.

Afternoon Shuttle

Carondelet and De La Salle offer two daily bus services in the afternoon. There is no cost and no need to pre-register. 

• Pleasant Hill BART: There are two daily bus services to Pleasant Hill BART. They depart from Winton Drive 20 minutes after the last bell and at 3:50 PM. 
• Carondelet Athletics Complex: There is one daily bus service to the CAC. It departs 20 minutes after the last bell.

If you would like to be added to our carpool directory, please send an email to Sonia Wilson. We will add you to our directory and share it with you. 

Student Parking

For those students who have already secured a parking space for the 2026–27 school year, parking tags will be available at Student Orientation. For students who were placed on the waiting list this spring, please email Dean of Students Caitlin Main ’05 once you have a valid driver’s license to update your position on our waiting list.

Students were issued their schedule between June 4 and June 9. Schedule changes were processed during the month of June by appointment. If students want to make changes, they can still make an appointment during orientation days for an in-person meeting with Dr. Chaponot to make a change to their schedule (see instructions below). Once school starts, they will have a little under two weeks to make adjustments.

Summer Schedule Change Instructions

Follow all three steps listed on Schoology in the Course Scheduling Course. New calendar appointments for orientation days will open in early August.

Upcoming Fall Sports Season Information

We are excited to welcome everyone back to cheer on the Cougars! Please refer to the Carondelet Athletics Website for the listing of the seasons of sport.

Registration Information

All students interested in trying out for an athletics team this coming school year must be registered with Athletic Clearance.

• Fall Sports Registration Deadline: Friday, August 7
• Winter Sports Registration Deadline: Friday, October 30
• Spring Sports Registration Deadline: Friday, February 5, 2027

Tryout Information

Fall sports tryouts will take place August 10–14. All students interested in participating in a fall sport should make arrangements to be fully prepared to try out for the teams they are interested in during the week of tryouts. Please note that only students who have been cleared for athletic participation (see the Athletics Registration webpage) will be permitted to try out.

Parent Volunteer Information

Parent/Guardian Drivers/Volunteers will need to complete several items prior to driving student-athletes and volunteering for team roles (e.g., team parent). Please refer to the Parent Volunteer section on our website.

Camp Alpha Retreat - Class of 2030

Friday, September 18, 2:15 PM–Midnight

Camp Alpha is our Frosh Retreat that welcomes 9th grade students into the Carondelet community and is the only retreat offered during the freshman year. It is a foundational experience at Carondelet that helps ease the transition into high school and often paves the way for strong friendships and a sense of belonging. The retreat is an epic “lock-in” and rite of passage for Carondelet students. For more specific information, please visit the Camp Alpha Retreat website. If you have any questions regarding this retreat, please contact Director of Campus Ministry Edie Payne.

Registration for Camp Alpha is NOW OPEN until Monday, September 7. To register your student, please fill out the online registration/permission form.

Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Retreat Registration for 2026–27 School Year

Thank you to all of the families who participated in the Initial Retreat Date Request Period in May to request your Corazon, Shalom, and Kairos Retreat dates! At this time, all students who requested a retreat date for next year have been assigned to a retreat, and families have been notified of retreat date assignments via an email from “Carondelet High School Campus Ministry.”

Those who have not yet requested a retreat date have also received an email with information about how to submit a Late Retreat Date Request in hopes of getting your student added to a retreat with available space or on a waitlist.

All Late Retreat Date Requests and Fall Retreat Date Change Requests are due by Friday, August 21. When requesting dates and/or date changes, please only use the customized link provided in the email you received. Please reach out to Melyssa Sibal with questions or concerns.

Ven a Ver Immersion Program

Interested in learning more about social justice issues? Consider participating in a Ven a Ver Immersion trip in the 2026–27 school year! Ven a Ver immersions are justice-focused trips rooted in education, reflection, and action. This year, we will have immersion trips to Washington, DC, Chicago, and the Salinas Valley. Review this document for more information on each trip.

Community Service

Even though community service hours are not a graduation requirement, many students enjoy serving others and keep track of their service hours in hopes of earning community service awards and recognitions. Students can report their hours to Carondelet via the Mobileserve app. Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors: All service hours completed this summer (June & July) must be logged by Saturday, August 15. Freshmen will be onboarded onto our Mobileserve app after school starts. Find more information about Mobileserve here.

The Cannon Wellness Center provides a supportive, restorative, and community-building space where all students are welcome. Students are encouraged to drop in during break, lunch, or after school to participate in ongoing wellness activities and programming. They may also make individual counseling appointments, as needs arise.

Frosh/Peer Counselor Picnic

During lunchtime on Friday, August 21, freshmen are invited to bring their lunches and join the senior peer counselors on the Chapel lawn for fun and community building.

College Rep Visits

College reps will visit starting in August. All juniors and seniors may attend these presentations with teacher approval. Make sure to check Maia weekly for up-to-date information on visits and registration. Students must have their teachers sign a pass (available from College Counseling) to attend the visits. 

Cougar U Presentations

The Cougar U: College Workshops are designed to guide students step-by-step through the college application process. The following are the first sessions being offered this school year:

• Seniors on Friday, August 21, 1:40–2:50 PM: All students are expected to attend the first 15 minutes. The remainder of the time will be spent beginning the UC application. All students who are applying to the UCs should attend the full workshop.
• Juniors on Wednesday, September 9, 1:40–2:50 PM: Important junior-year college topics will be covered. All students are expected to attend the full session. 

Lunch and Learns

Freshmen and sophomores are invited to attend Lunch and Learns to hear about a variety of college and career-related topics and to become more familiar with the College Counseling office. The first Lunch and Learn will be held for freshmen only on Wednesday, September 2. 

College Fairs

Colleges will be on campus to introduce their schools and answer questions. The fairs are open for any student to attend. 

• RACC Out-of-State College Fair: Monday, August 24, period 7 and after school
• Jesuit Excellence Fair: Tuesday, September 22, 1:30–3:30 PM 

Changing Registrar Information

To update your demographic information (address, phone number, names, etc.), email registrar@carondeleths.org. Please make sure to send your request from an email account associated with the student.

• Name Changes: Legal documentation from the state is required for any permanent name changes. While Carondelet allows students to use preferred names or nicknames, official changes to the permanent record require legal verification.
• Emergency Contacts: To update emergency contact information, email registrar@carondeleths.org.

PowerSchool and Schoology Access

Class of 2030 and new Transfer Student families should receive an email on July 21 at 3:00 PM regarding access to PowerSchool and Schoology. If you are a new parent/guardian and don’t receive the email, or would like to add an email address, please reach out to Registrar Nattiel Arias.

Academic Technology Update: Focused iPad Use for 2026–27

For the upcoming 2026–27 school year, Carondelet is unifying our academic technology strategy. The iPad will be the primary, required device for daily classroom use across all grade levels, ensuring consistent implementation and a streamlined learning experience. 

Why This Focused Approach? While laptops are valuable for independent study, the iPad is our chosen primary classroom tool because it:

• Supports essential learning: Offers digital textbooks, accessible reading features, and efficient note-taking with kinesthetic benefits for retention and digital organization.
• Fosters creativity and collaboration: Ideal for multimedia projects and interactive group work.
• Ensures focused learning: Allows for central management and security, minimizing distractions during instruction and testing.

What This Means for Your Student:

• Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors: Your school-issued iPad will be used exclusively during the school day. Laptop carts will be provided for specific computer-intensive classes (e.g., AP Computer Science).
• Seniors: Must bring your iPad daily for core classes and assessments. You may also bring a personal laptop for supplemental use.
• Standardized Testing: All on-campus standardized tests (AP, PSAT, Digital SAT) will require iPads for consistency and compatibility.

Tips for a Successful iPad Experience:

• Charge Daily: Establish a habit of charging your iPad every night to ensure it's ready for the school day.
• Consider a Reliable Keyboard: We recommend a keyboard that does not rely on Bluetooth or internal batteries, such as a plug-in keyboard or the Logitech combo cases with a trackpad and detachable keyboard, for consistent functionality.

Summer Reading and AP Prep

The summer reading list is available online. Students/families must purchase their own summer reading books and may choose print or digital books when available.
