Welcome Back, CCISD!

Dear CCISD Families,

Your team in Clear Creek ISD is eagerly awaiting the start of a great school year. We are preparing to welcome more than 41,000 students through our doors in two weeks. As you and your family begin the annual tradition of school supply shopping and organization, there are a few important updates to share with you.

Certainly, on the forefront of our minds is the continuing concern over the COVID-19 virus. I want to reassure our families and staff that our school district will continue to make the health and safety of everyone our top priority.

While the majority of our families and employees were off school grounds, Clear Creek ISD successfully held in-person summer school, athletic and band camps, and professional learning throughout the summer without a face covering requirement. I am optimistic that our cleaning protocols, access to COVID-19 vaccines, stay home if ill communication, and visual and oral reminders of Centers for Disease Control guidelines will continue to serve our community well and provide us a strong pathway into a successful 2021-2022 school year.

As of this communication, and unless otherwise required by state authorities, Clear Creek ISD will not require face coverings for the 2021-2022 school year. Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order which prohibits a local school district from requiring a face covering indoors beyond June 4, 2021. Families and staff should consider CDC guidelines which most recently recommend people wear face coverings indoors even if they have been vaccinated.

I am asking for your help. In order to create an inclusive learning environment, we must remain respectful of one another. There will be students and staff members who will wear face coverings to school and others who will not. Either choice will be greeted with mutual respect and understanding. It is important this message is shared with our students as well.

Clear Creek ISD, with the support of a committee, developed a set of school opening plans for the 2021-2022 school year. We will:

  • Provide cleaning supplies in the classroom, extra hand sanitizing stations throughout the building, and ample custodial staff to clean classrooms and common areas daily and nightly.
  • Notify parents and staff if there is a positive COVID-19 case with advice on how to monitor your symptoms.
  • Report known positive cases to the local health department to investigate as required by the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Clear Creek ISD will not be conducting its own contact tracing system in the 2021-2022 school year unless noted in the Health Mitigation Protocols.
  • Monitor attendance rates and absences due to illnesses in order to adjust health protocols as needed. This type of health monitoring is similar to how CCISD has handled other infectious viruses such as the flu. This data will be accessible on the district website.

COVID-19 and a wet summer have impacted our completion schedule of major bond work at several of our schools. Hall Elementary, Landolt Elementary, and Ed White Elementary will be open for learning on August 16, albeit still in the very final stages of renovations. We appreciate the support and understanding of our neighbors, families, and staff as obtaining construction materials such as insulation and specialty sub contractors has proven to be challenging during COVID-19.

You will receive additional back to school information such as forms, school supply lists, dress code and more later this week.

In the meantime, please enjoy the last weeks of summer break.

We look forward to seeing prekindergarten, kindergarten, 6th grade, and 9th grade students on Monday, August 16, 2021 and the remaining grade levels on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Warm Regards,

Eric Williams, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
