Important COVID-19 Guidance for 2021-2022 School Year
Dear Parents,

I hope your family is enjoying summer break! We are looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year and consider it a blessing to be entrusted with the education and care of your children. As we prepare for the new year, we continue to seek COVID-19 guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and our school's COVID-19 task force which is made up of local health care professionals, school administrators, faculty and parents.

The CDC updated its guidance for COVID-19 prevention on July 9th. Here are the key takeaways:

  • Masks should be worn indoors by all individuals (age 2 and older) who are not fully vaccinated. Consistent and correct mask use by people who are not fully vaccinated is especially important indoors and in crowded settings, when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
  • CDC recommends schools maintain at least 3 feet of physical distance between students within classrooms, combined with indoor mask wearing by people who are not fully vaccinated, to reduce transmission risk.
  • Screening testing, ventilation, handwashing and respiratory etiquette, staying home when sick and getting tested, contact tracing in combination with quarantine and isolation, and cleaning and disinfection are also important layers of prevention to keep schools safe.
  • Students, teachers, and staff should stay home when they have signs of any infectious illness and be referred to their healthcare provider for testing and care.

Although St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School will not mandate the wearing of masks to begin the new school year, we highly recommend following CDC guidelines. Guidance from our school's COVID-19 task force combined with the continued low rate of viral COVID-19 spread in our community contributed to our decision to make mask wearing optional. Should the pandemic get worse, St. Anne-Pacelli's stance on mask wearing will change.

All instruction in 2021-2022 will be in-person, on-campus, unless a student is medically fragile.

Our administrators, faculty and staff are looking forward to seeing you soon. As a reminder, the first day of the 2021-2022 school year is Monday, August 9th and will be a full school day. Please click here to see our schedule of back-to-school events and orientations.
