Dear Assumption Community,

We were informed today that a member of the Assumption staff was potentially exposed to someone who has since tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus. The staff member has not been diagnosed with coronavirus, is not exhibiting any symptoms and is self-quarantining .

Out of concern for the well-being and continued health and safety of the Assumption community, we wanted to inform you of this information.

The potential exposure took place at an off-campus event; however, the individual was on campus during spring break on March 9, 11, 13 and 16 in Kennedy Memorial Hall. Except for Campus Police, Kennedy is effectively closed until further notice until the building can be thoroughly cleaned.

The College is following protocols issued by the State of Massachusetts and has informed the Department of Public Health. In addition, College officials have also reached out to members of the community with whom the individual may have come into contact. Those individuals have been instructed not to come to campus for 14 days. (If you have not received a separate message, it is unlikely that you came into contact with the individual.)

Again, I reiterate, the Assumption staff member has not been diagnosed with coronavirus.

Sincerely,
