School Reopening Update

Dear AL Parents,

Following the reopening committee and the board of directors meetings last night, I would like to inform you about the decision to reopen the school as follows:
  • 9th grade: in-person learning resumes as planned 4 days a week on Tuesday, January 19th
  • K-1st grade: hybrid model resumes two days a week on Monday, January 25th
  • 2nd-5th grade: hybrid model starts two days a week on Monday, February 1st
  • 6th grade: hybrid model starts two days a week on Monday, February 1st.

  • 7th-8th grade: online program continues as we keep on assessing the situation.
As you can see, we are phasing in three additional grades from our last opening, including starting phase 2 of the middle school re-entry with the 6th grade. We hope to welcome back our 7th and 8th graders soon.

If you selected virtual learning through spring break on the last parent survey, your student will remain virtual until then.

All K-5 schedules will change and will be communicated to parents by January 19 for K-1 and January 25 for 2-6. Students' new hybrid cohort assignments will be communicated to parents by the end of the week. Some cohort groups will change because we need to balance the student numbers to maintain the mitigation/safety measures we have put in place. Bus service will also resume for the parents that have signed up. Additional information about the Upper Room after-school care will be shared in this week's newsletter.

We will closely monitor the evolution of the pandemic and will strictly follow all mitigation guidelines. The school may revert back to online learning if the situation worsens. If your child is coming back on campus soon, please take a few minutes to review our safety measures here

As we reopen there will be many challenges that may cause a disruption to scheduling with frequent quarantining or inability to find adequate French-speaking substitutes. We invite parents to be patient and understanding during these challenges.

We look forward to welcoming our teachers and students back to school safely. Thank you for your partnership and support.
