Aloha and Happy New Year! We are pleased to provide the following updates, and encourage you to share this information with others in your company.
COVID-19 Updates
As we continue continue to monitor the frequently changing COVID-19 situation, here are a few updates:

  • In January 2021, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services extended the National Emergency Declaration for COVID-19. As a result, HMAA’s extended grace period for payment of premiums and waived fees for late payments or reinstatements will continue.

  • The costs of medically necessary testing and treatment for COVID-19 remain covered at 100% in accordance with HMAA’s medical plans until the National Emergency Declaration ends. This means HMAA members will not be responsible for copayments, coinsurance, or deductibles related to COVID-19 testing or treatment until April 2021 unless DHHS declares otherwise.

  • Mass vaccinations have been scheduled to ramp up distribution. HMAA members should contact their primary care physician regarding when and how they can receive the vaccine.
Setting Resolutions in the New Year
Have you made any resolutions for 2021? The American Psychological Association has some tips to help make your New Year’s resolutions stick! These include starting small and changing one behavior at a time so you don’t beat yourself up.
7 Healthy Medication Habits 
If you take medications, a vital part of achieving your health goals should be resolving to adhere to healthy medication habits.

  • Take your medications as prescribed
  • Develop and implement a strategy to avoid missing your meds
  • Make a list of all of your medications
  • Store your prescriptions securely
  • Throw out old meds
  • Develop a follow-up plan with your physician
  • Make necessary lifestyle changes 
VSP Individual Plans
Do you have employees who are not currently enrolled in a vision plan? If so, they may benefit from VSP’s direct, non-employer-sponsored individual plans through our Member Plus Discount Program.

Enrollment is quick and easy through VSP’s website. Family members may enroll as well. No insurance card is necessary; enrollees just need to tell their provider they have VSP.
