SPARKS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM!
SPARKS is exploring social and emotional competencies through children’s literature. We are running a social and emotional fine art curriculum. Students meet new artists every week and explore works of art. All while indulging in meaningful SEL discussions!
ASES students explore feathers, flight, and the features that make birds unique. Using tools and technology, youth identify local species and investigate environmental changes that impact bird behavior. This science activity helps students gain knowledge, skills and experience in leadership, communication, problem-solving and much more.
ASES students actively engage in a variety of oral language acquisition experiences to gain an increasing level of comprehension and oral skills.

Research shows that students acquire oral language skills quickly using songs, pictures, chants, stories, speaking and listening. GrapeSeed, a researched based English Language acquisition curriculum is being implemented in CUSD SPARKS.

This week marks the start of students practicing their oral English through introductory reading and writing activities that are aligned with developmentally appropriate practices.

Great News! We will continue to provide updates as more information and resources become available to help our students, staff, and families navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic healthily and safely.

Please continue to monitor your child for any COVID-like symptoms and keep them home if ill. On February 1st, 2022, a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for children ages 5 to 11 will be held at the Imperial Valley Mall. Your support is crucial to help us maintain our schools open.

As per the guidance from the Imperial County Health Department on the Use of Face Coverings, all individuals are required to continue wearing face coverings in certain public high-risk indoor areas such as K-12 school sites, public transit, and healthcare settings. Please know that all staff and students will be required to wear masks at all CUSD facilities and school sites until further notice.
