In response to the questions posed by ELC Broward concerning the clarification of the definition of “open for business” on April 30, 2020 for purposes of the CARES grant, the Office of Early Learning has responded accordingly. Please see the responses to the specific questions listed below:
Question: What if Providers were providing instruction to their families through virtual learning April 30?
Answer: Phase 1 grants are intended for providers that were open, had children present and were providing early learning services on premises on April 30, 2020; therefore, these providers would not qualify as “open.”
Question: What if Providers were open for teachers to clean, etc., but had no children April 30? Please see previous response.
In other words, children needed to be physically present at your facility, with you/your staff providing instruction to them on April 30
