Common Application Workshop:
Wednesday, August 10th
|
The Common Application opened on August 1st but students do not have to approach the application on their own. Help is available!
Seniors are invited to participate in a Common Application Workshop on Wednesday, August 10th from 9:30 until 12:00 p.m. at Trinity High School. This is a great opportunity to become familiar with the Common Application, which is used by over 800 colleges and universities. Ms. Granholm will guide students step-by-step through the sections of the Common App and address commonly asked questions. Some aspects of the Common Application will require clarification and information from Ms. Granholm, so it's in the student's best interest to attend this, or a future workshop.
Following the application workshop, students wishing to get started on the Common Application Essay may want to attend an essay writing workshop from 1:00-2:30pm hosted by Trinity English teacher, Mr. Lombardo. Mr. Lombardo is a published author and working on a forthcoming book focused on the college application personal essay! He's a wonderful in-house resource for our students.
Students are asked to RSVP for these workshops by Monday, August 8th. Due to space constraints, late registrations will not be accepted. Ms. Granholm will then send instructions so that each student comes to the workshop prepared and with the materials needed to start completing the application.
Additional application workshops will be held throughout the fall. Watch for more information when we return to school.

Submission of College Application Materials
|
Most college applications opened on August 1st. While more detailed information will be provided during the first week of school, students are responsible for requesting that their Trinity transcript and letters of recommendation are sent to the colleges to which they apply. Trinity submits these materials on the student's behalf. The student is responsible for submitting the application itself, any writing supplements, and if required/desired, official test scores from ACT or SAT.
To make this request for documents, students must complete the Transcript Request Form (available online in mid-September) no later than two weeks ahead of each college application deadline. Upon receipt of this form, Mrs. Puttin, our registrar, and Ms. Granholm will prepare and submit documents including the transcript, school profile, secondary school report, and letters of recommendation.
The Students Services Office will begin processing transcript requests on Thursday, September 15th, well ahead of even the earliest college application deadlines.

Status of ACT & SAT Testing
|
As expected, more than two-thirds of all U.S. colleges and universities have extended test-optional or test-blind application options for the coming admissions cycle. For an up-to-date list of schools that have waived testing requirements, visit www.fairtest.org, or check with the specific school to which you will be applying for their specific testing policy.
Ms. Granholm will work with each student to ensure she submits the strongest application possible, either with or without test scores.
Trinity High School will not host the ACT or SAT this fall. Students interested in taking an additional exam can find nearby test sites and registration information here:
-
ACT Registration - Please note, late registration for the September 5 exam closes on August 19th.
-
SAT Registration - Please note, registration for the October 1st exam closes on September 2nd.
Students planning to test are encouraged to check out the free ACT test preparation program available through Naviance! This robust, dynamic preparation program is easy to use and offers customized practice for each Trinity student. To access the program, log on to Naviance and find Naviance Test Prep under the Resources section at the very bottom of the homepage.
