Are you Native American or Know Someone Who Is? Click here and read this fact sheet on benefits of health insurance beyond IHS coverage. Members of the Navajo Nation or any New Mexico Tribe or Pueblo have access to health care through a collaboration of beWellnm and they can keep the care through the Indian healthcare System IHS, This allows the Native population to select a plan and be seen by their PCP in their local area. Native Americans can have both and can enroll anytime throughout the year, without a deadline. This helps IHS and they receive funding for Native Americans being seen by a clinic in their local area. Click here for a flyer explaining the benefits of enrolling in free or low-cost insurance. For more information on enrolling, go to the  https://www.bewellnm.com/ website.

PREVENTING SOCIAL ISOLATION OF SENIORS
There is no one better than a caregiver to prevent social isolation among seniors. But when you are not around, what’s available to the care recipient you serve? AARP’s Friendly Voice program was set up to break through the wall of loneliness made even more formidable by social distancing. 275 volunteers have been recruited from around the country to chat with seniors.

Message from NMCC
Help caregivers in your community complete two very important steps in caring for themselves: Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is encouraging everyone—whether symptomatic or not—to take a free, in-home saliva test for COVID-19. A photo ID for identity verification and the ability to sign on to Zoom are required. The in-home test includes pre-paid postage for mailing to the laboratory. NM Caregivers Coalition staff have tested the site before recommending it. It is clear and runs very smoothly. Visit http://learn.vaulthealth.com/nm/
Secondly, NM Caregivers Coalition strongly recommends that caregivers register immediately for the COVID-19 vaccination because caregivers are currently eligible for the vaccination. Register now at https://cvvaccine.nmhealth.org.
