Registration for Summer Art Camp is open!
Summer Art Camp offers multi-disciplinary, multicultural experiences for youth in grades 1-9. Since 1996, Harwood’s summer programming has fostered creativity and curiosity in young artists of all skill levels. Art Camp provides fun projects and skill building as well as opportunities for both individual and collaborative creative exploration. Summer Art Camp runs over four two-week sessions throughout June and July with full and half day options for students.

Gateway Center at Gibson Health Hub
The City acquired the 572,000 square foot Gibson Medical Center in April 2021 and renamed it the Gibson Health Hub. The campus hosts existing tenants providing medical, behavioral health, and vocational services. The City's Gateway project will add additional health resources for the community as well as centrally located overnight beds and supportive services to connect people with the help they need on their pathway to housing.

ANNOUNCING ONLINE CAREGIVER TRAINING & REGISTRY
Did you know that any New Mexican seeking to be a respite caregiver can now obtain the needed training on how to become one? New Mexico Caregivers Coalition has created a Respite Care Provider Training portal.
The Respite Care Provider Training teaches basic skills needed to work with New Mexicans who are elderly and those with disabilities throughout the lifespan. Training content is applicable to any type of caregiver working in any type of care setting.
Best of all, there is no cost to the learner.
Complete this self-paced, online training that teaches the skills required for becoming a paid, or volunteer, respite care provider within the State of New Mexico. Completers receive a 7-hour Certificate of Completion.
Completers and certificate holders can also be listed within the Respite Care Registry. The Registry lists ONLY those caregivers who complete our training. In this way, New Mexico Caregivers Coalition can promote those caregivers who have mastered, at least, these foundational skills.

New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship
The New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship provides tuition and fee assistance for New Mexico residents who meet eligibility and are pursuing a training certificate, associate degree, or bachelor degree at a New Mexico public college or university.
The Opportunity Scholarship is awarded during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
The Opportunity Scholarship will cover up to 100% of tuition and required fees and up to $50 per credit hour for course specific fees. There is no application required for the Opportunity Scholarship. If you meet the eligibility criteria, our Scholarship team will work with you to award the scholarship.
For 2023-2024, the Fast Track programs, CNM Online College, and Law Enforcement Academy will be covered at $116.00 per credit hour. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technology program will be covered at $191.00 per credit hour.
Specialty Programs will not be covered at 100%, per NMHED.
At CNM, a recipient receiving the Opportunity Scholarship who is also awarded the Lottery scholarship will receive three terms of funding or an associate's degree, whichever comes first. Students who maintain eligibility can transfer the Opportunity and Lottery Scholarships to a four-year institution and may be eligible for a total of up to seven terms.

Adult Protective Services
We are committed to protecting the safety of adults who are not able to protect themselves and to promoting the personal choice and self-determination of all we serve.
New Mexico has a “Duty to Report” provision in the Adult Protective Services Act (27-7-30) which states: “Any person, or financial institution, having reasonable cause to believe that an incapacitated adult is being abused, neglected or exploited shall immediately report that information to Adult Protective Services.” Adult Protective Services remains on call for emergent reports of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There are 5 Adult Protective Services Regions serving all 33 counties
of New Mexico:
- Northeast: Serving Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Taos, Colfax, Union, Mora, Harding, San Miguel, and Guadalupe counties
- Northwest: Serving San Juan, McKinley, Cibola, Valencia, and Socorro counties, in addition to part of Sandoval county
- Metro: Serving Bernalillo, Torrance, and Sandoval counties
- Southeast: Serving Lincoln, De Baca, Quay, Curry, Roosevelt, Chaves, Eddy, and Lea counties
- Southwest: Serving Catron, Grant, Hidalgo, Sierra, Luna, Dona Ana, and Otero counties

Santa Fe Mayor's Committee on Disability
The Mayor's Committee on Disability's purpose is to work with and for people with and without disabilities to ensure access by eliminating physical and attitudinal barriers and improving participation in the Santa Fe community to enrich all.
The Committee's monthly meetings are open to the public and are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 3-5 p.m. via Zoom. Meeting dates, agenda, and information can be accessed at https://santafe.primegov.com/public/portal.
There are always fifteen minutes of every meeting reserved for public comment.

We provide critical home repairs and disability modifications for low-income homeowners in Rio Rancho, Corrales, Bernalillo, Placitas, Algodones. To qualify for our help, applicants must own the home and meet household income limits.
Rebuilding Together is working to ensure safe homes and communities for everyone. We are a local, volunteer-based organization dedicated to helping low-income homeowners in Sandoval County maintain their homes at no charge. We welcome applications for assistance from any low-income homeowner who resides in our service area. Homeowners must have title to the home, or a mortgage, and must meet our financial qualification limits, which are based on HUD Section 8 household income criteria.
To start the application process, phone (505) 896-3041 and leave a message. An RTSC volunteer will then return your call to discuss your needs and eligibility. If eligible, we will complete an application and obtain proof of ownership and household income. At present, we have a lengthy waiting list of applicants so please be patient.

New Mexico Disability Resources FINDER (“NM FINDER”) helps people with disabilities, their family members, educators, and other professionals find and access resources, support, and services available to meet their needs - - where they live, work, and play.
NMFINDER.org is an online program designed to connect individuals to appropriate community resources across New Mexico aimed to improve their quality of life. It operates under The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service (UCEDD).
This rapidly expanding list of resources is constantly updated and offers community participation. We are always looking for professionals, volunteers and organizations to contribute to our list of services and information. A simple Registration and Submit a Listing process for new NM FINDER contributors and service providers is available. All submissions are reviewed and verified prior to publication.
Our goal is there will always be something new and useful to discover.

CDD Library
The University of New Mexico Center for Development and Disability Information Network Library contains the largest collection of disability-related books, eBooks, and DVDs in the state of New Mexico. Materials are available for check out or onsite use by public.
The library is located at 2300 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, between University and Carlisle. It is on the first floor of the west building next to the reception area. Free parking is available south of the buildings. The buildings are labeled Midtown Center on the south side.

Sun Van, ABQ RIDE's paratransit service, provides accessible transportation to persons residing in or visiting the metro area whose impairment makes it impossible to ride the fixed route service.
Reasonable accommodation and information in accessible formats is available upon request by calling (505) 724-3100.

All permanent riders must be ADA-certified through an interview process at the Transit Department Administrative Offices. Sun Van Service Area
Similar to ABQ RIDE fixed routes, Sun Van serves the Albuquerque City Metropolitan area and portions of Bernalillo County. Sun Van provides service at least to and from points within three-quarters of a mile along each ABQ RIDE fixed bus route, except for commuter routes, during the days and times that ABQ RIDE operates. Door to Door service is also available upon request at time of reservation.

Service hours are from 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM
Monday through Saturday.
Sunday hours are from 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

Advance reservations are required, and reservations are accepted three days in advance when made Saturday through Thursday; on Fridays, reservations are accepted five days in advance.
Rides must be canceled two (2) hours prior to the scheduled ride.

Carpooling
As an alternative to using a single-occupancy vehicle, carpooling involves two to five commuters sharing an employee-owned vehicle. The more people in a carpool, the greater the savings.
Carpool However You Can
Depending on the arrangements made, one person can do all the driving and be reimbursed by the riders. Or driving responsibilities can be shared so that no money needs to change hands.

Employees of a single company may often live near each other, making carpooling very convenient.
Some employees may have neighbors who work at different companies located only a short distance apart and have the same work hours.
Many Rail Runner passengers can carpool to and from stations together, saving even more money.

The Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) is a private, nonprofit, consumer-controlled agency.

ABQ StreetConnect (ABQSC) is an outreach collaborative focused on people experiencing homelessness who have the highest records of utilization of emergency services and care. The aim is to establish ongoing relationships that result in permanent supportive housing for these people, many of whom suffer from severe behavioral health issues.
The ABQSC program provides intensive navigation and wrap-around supportive services to the top 30 highest utilizers of emergency services in the Albuquerque area. The supportive services, which are all aimed towards a successful housing outcome, are provided by an ABQSC team comprised of two street navigators, a clinical outreach director, Albuquerque police officers and the ABQSC program director. The team provides:
- Intensive navigation through services and housing
- Individually identified services
- SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery
The program provides permanent supportive housing in scattered site apartment units across the city. Housing subsidies are provided with partner agencies and entities including:
- Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless
- Bernalillo County
- HopeWorks
- New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness
- New Mexico Supportive Housing Coalition
- Therapeutic Living Services
Placements may include:
- Assisted Living: facilities designed for people who need help with complex Active Daily Living Skills.
- Group Homes: usually single-family dwellings which have been converted into group residences, for example, elderly or disabled residents.
- Skilled Nursing Facilities: licensed medical treatment facilities.

Albuquerque 768-HELP Homeless Helpline
Since August 2021 the Albuquerque Coordinated Entry team has been operating the City of Albuquerque Homeless Helpline. Persons in Albuquerque experiencing homelessness or a housing crisis can call 505-768-HELP (4357) to receive housing and homelessness resources.
Two advocates are available
Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Available services include:
Screening for CES and other major housing options
Phone VI-SPDAT housing assessments
Referrals to the Hawthorne Wellness Hotel
Referrals to APS Title 1
Shelter and rental assistance information

The Barrett Foundation Vecinos Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) Program is designed to serve homeless individuals and families who need short-term rental assistance. Vecinos RRH program provides intensive case management services to assist the program participant in achieving self-sufficiency and housing stability. For more information, click here.

Native American Professional Parent Resources is providing information and referrals at 505-345-6289 or at nappr.org. Early Head Start continues to serve center and home-based families virtually with the program-provided educational supplies. Early Intervention continues to provide services primarily through telehealth, with in office evaluations offered to those families without technical capabilities. Tribal Home Visiting are serving 35 families virtually and holding several Family Group Connections with interactive activities and supply drop offs. The Dental Support Center is assisting all Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service and Tribal dental clinics by providing clinical items, dental health supplies and other services to help ensure continuation of safe dental care to their communities.

On July 1, New Mexico’s Medicaid program will officially change from Centennial Care to Turquoise Care. An important part of this transition is a change to the line-up of managed care organizations (MCOs) available to Medicaid recipients: Western Sky will no longer be part of New Mexico Medicaid but two new MCOs will be added – Molina and United. Presbyterian and Blue Cross Blue Shield will continue to be available as well.
Because the MCOs available in New Mexico Medicaid are changing, there’s an “open enrollment” period from April 1 through May 31 during which you can pick an MCO. Here’s how it will work:
If you’re enrolled with Western Sky, you’ll need to switch to a new MCO. You can choose a new MCO – either BCBS, Pres, or one of the two new MCOs joining New Mexico Medicaid. If you don’t select one of those MCOs during the April-May open enrollment period, the Human Services Department (HSD) will assign you to one.
If you’re currently enrolled in Medicaid with Blue Cross Blue Shield or Presbyterian and you’re satisfied with that choice, you don’t have to do anything – you’ll automatically stay enrolled with that MCO.
· If you’re enrolled with BCBS or Pres and want to change to a different MCO, you can do that during the open enrollment period.
Everyone who’s currently enrolled with one of the Medicaid MCOs should get a packet from HSD in the mail. It will come in a yellow envelope so you’ll see it in the mail and know to look at it. The materials in the packet will give you information about the upcoming change to Turquoise Care and how to go about selecting an MCO.
Each MCO will have its own network of health care providers, though many providers will be in more than one network – you’ll want to be sure that the providers you prefer are in the network for the MCO you choose. For information about the four Turquoise Care MCOs to help you make your selection, you can go to their websites:

There are also several sets of Frequently Asked Questions that will help you find out more about the coming changes.
HSD is also holding a series of “roadshow” meetings around the state that you can attend to get more information about the change to Turquoise Care and the new MCOs. Those meetings began in late March with little notice and have already been held in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Silver City, Deming, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, Clovis, Hobbs, Carlsbad and Roswell. They’ll continue through the end of April in other New Mexico locations. Here’s the information about meetings that are still to come:

The Substance Use Treatment for Adolescents and Young Adults in Recovery (STAR) program is a full service outpatient program that uses a multidisciplinary treatment approach to help meet the complex needs of adolescents, young adults, and their families. Friendly and knowledgeable staff
help clients move toward recovery using evidence based and research informed interventions. This assures that clients and their families receive a tailored treatment plan with treatments that work!
At STAR an array of psychiatric and psychological services are offered, and every effort is made to coordinate services with available resources within the UNMH system and the community.

Dear Colleague,
We strive to provide you with valuable information to help your clients avoid unnecessary financial burden, such as overpayments. Overpayments occur when your clients receive more money than they are due. By law, we are required to adjust benefits or recover debts when that happens. Your clients can avoid overpayments by reporting changes in income, resources, work, earnings, and living arrangements that could affect their benefits, as soon as possible.
If your client receives an overpayment notice, they can:
- Repay the Overpayment – If they agree with the overpayment and are currently receiving benefits, they can make a payment in full, through monthly benefit withholding, or through a repayment plan by check, money order, or credit card. If they are not currently receiving benefits, they can make a full or partial repayment using Pay.gov or their bank’s online bill pay option. We offer flexible repayment plans, including payments as low as $10 per month.

Request an Appeal – If they disagree with the overpayment or believe the overpayment amount is incorrect, they can request a review of the decision by completing form SSA-561-U2, Request for Reconsideration. The appeal must be filed within 60 days of receiving the overpayment notice.

Request a Waiver – If they believe they did not cause the overpayment, the overpayment is unfair, or cannot afford to repay the overpayment, they can request to relieve some or all the amount due by completing form SSA-632-BK, Request for Waiver of Overpayment Recovery.
We simplified our waiver request form to make it easier to understand and less burdensome for people to request a waiver.
If they believe they are not at fault and the overpayment is $1,000 or less, they may request a waiver by calling 1-800-772-1213 or their local Social Security office. We may be able to process their request quickly by phone without having to submit a paper form.

Request a Different Repayment Amount – We offer flexible repayment plans, including payments as low as $10 per month. If they are unable to meet their necessary living expenses due to the current repayment amount, or are unable to repay the debt within 60 months*, they can request a change in the recovery rate by completing form SSA-634, Request for Change in Overpayment Recovery Rate. *This is a recent policy change. Previous policy required the completion of the SSA-634 if the overpayment could not be repaid within 36 months.

The Mesilla Valley Public Housing Authority (MVPHA) assists more than 6,000 residents of the City of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County. The State of New Mexico has 36 Public Housing Authorities in which MVPHA is the 5th largest in operating public housing units and the 4th largest in administering Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
Our annual operating budget of $8.5 million provides 248 public housing units, 40 Section 8 New Construction units, 686 affordable housing units, and 1,652 Housing Choice Vouchers.
