In the Rio Grande Valley, cancer research is often shaped by the people it hopes to serve.
It grows out of conversations between doctors and patients, the experiences families carry, and communities determined to achieve better outcomes for the next generation.
Those real-life experiences continue to guide the UTRGV School of Medicine's research mission and serve as a reminder that behind every study is a community looking for answers.
To help confront these challenges, the UTRGV School of Medicine will host its 4th International Conference on Cancer Health Disparities and UTRGV School of Medicine Research Symposium on Feb. 28 and March 1, 2026.
The two-day annual symposium brings together national and international researchers, clinicians, and students to share knowledge and explore the latest advances in cancer research and care.
This year's conference will highlight emerging discoveries, innovative therapies, and collaborative strategies aimed at improving patient outcomes.
