Center-based providers and family child care home providers have an opportunity to apply for grant funding for minor renovation and repairs to existing facilities. 

The Minor Renovation and Repairs Grant allocates $100 million appropriated in grants for minor renovations repairs, modernization, or retrofitting of existing child care facilities to increase or recover capacity due to a declared disaster, mitigate future disasters, address needs related to health and safety, licensing, or the COVID-19 pandemic, and for other existing facilities for use as child care facilities. Funds shall be used to preserve, enhance, or expand existing child care spaces. 

Application Submission Requirements Interested applicants shall apply electronically using the online portal available on the Minor Renovations and Repairs web page.

Students pursuing a career in early childhood or child development, MAY be eligible to apply for the new Educational Support Grant of $35 per unit to a maximum of $210/semester through the Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC). Include all classes you are enrolled in this semester – Spring 2022 only. 

Please note the following Eligibility Priorities:
  • Priority 1: Employee of a licensed, or eligible for an exemption*, childcare/development program including center-based, licensed family childcare, out-of-school care . Employment in a transitional kindergarten or kindergarten classroom is also acceptable.
  • Priority 2: Students who are not currently employed and enrolled in a practicum course (CDEV 71 or 72).

Any additional eligibility criterion is included in the online application. Limited funding is first come, first served. *Licensed Exempt centers are limited to the following: on school site, parents on site, military, tribal, employment agency, home based program, before/after school program, parks and recreation and adult ed/child care.

Steps to apply for the Educational Support Grant:
  1. Go to childdevelopment.org
  2. Select “Early Childhood Education (ECE) Student Career & Education Program”
  3. Select the “Educational Support Grant” link where it says, “Apply here.”
  4. Follow the 3 easy steps and ALL directions to complete and submit the Educational Support Grant application.
