Dear Elementary School Families,
It’s hard to believe, but we are already at the midpoint of this first quarter! Understanding that COVID has reduced some of the traditional opportunities for us to gather with our parents, we have compiled a collection of handy resources for our families. Please save this email so you may refer to it over the course of this year.
Although the past 18 months have certainly challenged all of us, our parents’, students’ and teachers’ relentless commitment to continuing to learn and grow is inspiring and we have evidence to support all of the positives that have occurred, even over the past 18 months. Please check out We Are LNC! which is a compilation of who we are and what we've accomplished over the years. We hope every LNC stakeholder feels proud to be a valued member of the LNC community.
We also want to update you on our school’s two strategic areas of focus – Global Diversity & Inclusion (GD&I) and our newest focus area, THRIVE. Global Diversity & Inclusion, which began in 2013, is an increasingly important area to the culture of LNC and we are excited about the work and development taking place on the part of our board of education, administration, students and staff to ensure that every stakeholder at LNC knows they belong and are valued. You can expect to receive more information about GD&I as the year progresses. The THRIVE committee concentrates on the “whole student” including their emotional and physical wellbeing. THRIVE’s mission is to help enrich the LNC student’s overall experience in academics, leadership and service while being mindful of their personal wellness by developing the emotional, ethical and social skills needed to successfully navigate college and life. We will share more on how we plan to work THRIVE into the fiber of our mission at LNC, K-12, beginning with the welcomed addition of our new mental health professional, Dr. Danielle Graham, about whom you should have received an email yesterday.
Finally, one of our key objectives for the school year is to re-engage all stakeholders. Given that, we encourage you to mark your calendars for the following events:
-
October 8th: LNC Homecoming & Community Spirit Night – (begins at 5:00 pm) join us for food trucks, music and fun as we get to know one another while we tailgate before kick-off at 7:00 pm under the Friday Night Lights
-
October 29th : Day of Service – the entire LNC staff and student body will mobilize to perform a Day of Service
-
November 7th: Athletic Booster Golf Outing – learn more & sign up to golf here
-
April 2nd: Boots Bulls & BBQ – adults-only social you won’t want to miss
Thank you for your support and ongoing trust as we journey through the 2021-2022 school year TOGETHER.
