The Federation continues a momentous 50 th Anniversary year with two key staff additions
East Point, GA - This Federation recently hired Donna DeCaille as the Director of Communications and Member Relations, and Terence Courtney as the Director of Cooperative Development & Strategic Initiatives. Both bring excellence, training, and passion to expand our regional focus.
 
Donna DeCaille, is a graduate of Tuskegee University and a registered licensed dietitian with a Master’s in Nutrition Science and Communications from Tufts University. Her experience runs across many nutrition disciplines including community, public health, and communication. Very passionate about food access for disparate communities, she led the charge and brought together 300 food systems stakeholders to create the first statewide food policy council in June 2010. The primary work of the Georgia Food Policy Council is to work toward establishing an equitable and sustainable food system in the state of Georgia. She was also instrumental in bringing early care stakeholders to create Georgia Farm to Preschool. 

The Director of Communications & Member Relation s is responsible for developing and guiding the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to articulate the organization's vision and mission. Donna will be the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information to our membership .

Terence Courtney has been an advocate for equity for twenty years. He began this work with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) where he brought together African American, Latino, and Asian workers to improve their lives in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Terence led union campaigns in the public and private sectors, and appointed the Union Representative for SEIU in Georgia. Terence’s organizing work includes organizing labor unions, student groups, community groups, and faith organizations. Expanding his movement building, he worked in the cooperative movement and strategize on cooperative development in Atlanta.

This Director of Cooperative Development & Strategic Initiatives is responsible for working with staff and partners in providing guidance to individuals and cooperatives to establish or expand their cooperative businesses within the community. The position will include assistance in the planning and coordination of domestic and international strategic initiatives and community development projects, assisting cooperative businesses and individual members and providing research for community development projects.
The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund

The Federation/Land Assistance Fund, now in its 50 th year, assist limited resource farmers, landowners, and cooperatives across the South with business planning, debt restructuring, marketing expertise, and a whole range of other services to ensure the retention of black owned land and cooperatives as a tool for social and economic justice.
