Many parts of Iowa have recently experienced heavy rain, leading to potential flooding in buildings and basements—especially for home-based programs. We know how challenging and stressful these situations can be, and we want to make sure you have the support and information needed to keep your program safe.
To support your flood response and recovery, Iowa HHS provides several helpful resources on the Disaster Recovery Page:
Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) Child Care Consultants and Child Care Nurse Consultants (CCNCs) are available to answer questions and provide technical assistance if your program has been affected by flooding or if you need guidance on cleanup, mold concerns, or next steps.
Flooding may also impact outdoor environments. Child care programs with flooded playgrounds may need assistance assessing playground equipment and fall surfacing. Reach out to your CCNC if you need assistance with your playground.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to keeping children safe—especially during challenging weather conditions. Your commitment makes a meaningful difference in your community.
Stay safe,
Iowa Child Care Resource & Referral
