On November 15, 2021, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) issued a final rule for onshore gas gathering lines. The rule, initiated 10 years ago, puts into place new safety standards and regulatory requirements for previously unregulated onshore gas gathering lines. Douglas Pipeline Signs Operating Contract with Gathering System Owner in Pennsylvania
This past August Douglas Pipeline began a multi-year service agreement to operate PHMSA jurisdictional piping of a gathering system in central Pennsylvania. The gathering system collects Marcellus Shale gas, has a bi-directional tap on Berkshire Hathaway Energy Gas Transmission & Storage’s Eastern Gas Transmission. As a part of this contract, Douglas Pipeline operates a meter and regulating station serving a gas-fired power plant producing electricity into PJM.
