Dear Villa Community,
This week we opened our Elementary Camp program for a small group of Elementary students. The students report that they are having a lot of fun! The students and staff have adjusted well to the procedures we have put into place such as having an assigned spot, keeping their belongings in a basket at their spot, staying in their “pods”, not co-mingling groups, following hand hygiene routines, etc. The staff has a plethora of fun games that allow for social distancing and camaraderie at the same time. An upcoming fourth grader said, “I’m just glad to be back at school!” In a few short days, they have managed to develop a nice sense of community. Our staff is doing a wonderful job.
I wanted to inform you that we received notice today that a Toddler I assistant tested positive for COVID-19. She was wearing a mask and was asymptomatic while in the classroom. She remains asymptomatic. In speaking with the epidemiologist at the Maricopa County Health Department, he said those students and staff in the Toddler I room should remain on home isolation for 14 days. We had decided earlier in the week that the infant and toddler staff would start wearing clear face shields over their masks to increase their level of protection, since social distancing is difficult with that age group. We are also providing them with additional information on ways to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.
In an effort to gather information about the reopening of the school for the 2020-2021 school year, we sent an email earlier today with links to 3 parent surveys: primary, kindergarten and grades 1 – 8. We need input from
each one of you
by Saturday, June 20. Please take a minute to complete the one(s) that apply to your age children. We will use the information to plan what school will look like in August.
Please continue to watch for important communications as new developments take place.
