Dear Heilicher Parents:

I am writing to share the news that our Acting Head of School Maia Poling has let me know that she plans to leave Heilicher at the end of the 2021-2022 school year to pursue new career interests.

Maia has made so many positive contributions to Heilicher as a teacher, General Studies Director, Associate Head of School, and in her current role. We are grateful that she stepped up as interim head to guide us through another very challenging year, and we will miss her warm and welcoming presence at Heilicher. We will have time to show our appreciation as a community before she departs in June.

Our Board of Trustees has begun to plan thoughtfully and expeditiously for a national search for our next head of school. We are designing an inclusive and comprehensive search process to find someone who will bring innovative ideas, great energy, and solid experience to lead us on our path to a strong and enduring future for Heilicher.

As a first step, I have appointed two volunteers to co-chair the Head of School Search Committee: Esther Goldberg-Davis and Michele Kaplan Clinard. Both are consummate volunteer leaders and current Heilicher parents who are fully invested in this exciting opportunity to help shape our school’s future. My gratitude goes to them for their dedication and enthusiasm.

Very shortly, Esther and Michele will be forming a search committee that represents the various constituencies of the Heilicher community. The committee will include parents, faculty and staff, and community volunteers. Our goal is to have the position filled by the summer of 2022.

Throughout the search process, we will provide numerous opportunities for community input, and there will be important roles for parents and other key constituencies to play. If you are interested in being involved in some way in the search process, or have initial thoughts that you’d like to share with the Search Committee co-chairs, please send an email to [email protected]

We are energized and excited to embark on this process to find a new leader who will take Heilicher from strength to strength. My door is always open if you’d like to connect, and I pledge to keep you informed throughout the coming months.

L’shalom,
Robyn Schein
President, Heilicher Board of Trustees
