Help for Those Grieving Our Community Loss
On Friday, President Matthew Shaftel shared sad news about the passing of one of our undergraduate students, Alexandria Leigh Whitehead, an Expressive Arts in Mental Health major. Allie passed away late last week after being hospitalized for a sudden critical illness.
As President Shaftel shared, Allie was a creative and caring person – a true ray of light in the world – who joined our community as a transfer student. She was beloved by all who knew her. Her generosity will live on as an organ donor. Please keep Allie’s family and friends in your thoughts, and know that if you are struggling with Allie's loss, help is available.
Counselors in our Wellness Centers on both campuses are ready to speak with you starting Monday, and you also are encouraged to tap into our additional counseling resources, which are detailed on our website. In the future, and in consultation with her family, we will find a way to honor and remember Allie on campus.
