Dear Parents and Students,

On Tuesday, October 29th, the following students are required to attend school in normal STVM dress code attire to take either the PSAT or IOWA test:

  • Freshmen who are enrolled in at least one Honors class
  • All Sophomores for the PSAT
  • All Juniors for the PSAT (those that need to take the IOWA test for graduation will take that instead; you will be notified ahead of time)
  • Any Seniors that still need to take the IOWA test (you will be notified ahead of time)

If your student does not fit into one of the categories above, he/she will not attend school on Tuesday, October 29th.

It is important that your student arrives at school on time. PSAT Testing will take place from 7:55 AM to approximately 11:30 AM If your student is testing with accommodations, we can predict that he/she will end no later than 1:00 PM but times will vary by student.

Please note, testing end times are approximate. Please plan according.

The PSAT is going to be completely digital. Students will be using their personal Chromebooks and need to make sure to bring it fully charged, along with the charger on test day.

Watch this video from 2023 for a tutorial on what to expect for the digital test and how to prepare.

ADDITIONAL TEST DETAILS

  • Dress code: School uniform
  • For the PSAT Test:
  • Bring your Chromebook fully charged and the charger the day of the test. A pen and pencil should also be brought. No calculators are needed; the program has one digitally built into the test for all students to use.
  • For the IOWA Test:
  • Bring two #2 sharpened pencils and a calculator - Students may not share a calculator and we do not have calculators to loan on test day.
  • The PSAT is known as the “practice SAT” and is used by scholarship programs, including the National Merit® Scholarship Program, to identify junior students eligible for scholarship money.
  • Students may only take the PSAT/NMSQT once in a school year. Scores will be made ineligible for scholarship consideration or canceled for students who test more than once.
  • If a student does not take it on their assigned test date, they cannot make it up on a different date with STVM.

Testing begins PROMPTLY at 8:00 AM. Students need to be in their assigned classrooms by 7:55 AM. Time will not be extended for students who arrive late.

We are a Catholic school in the Marianist Tradition and the only STEM designated Catholic high school in the State of Ohio.
