As you know, a parking structure near Pace’s New York City Campus experienced a partial collapse earlier this afternoon. Currently, there are no reports of any Pace Community members being directly involved in the tragic accident.
Due to the proximity of the partial collapse, we evacuated both 33 Beekman Street (a residence hall) and 161 William Street (office and classroom space) and canceled all classes on the NYC Campus. After inspection, the New York City Building Department has cleared residential students to return to their rooms in 33 Beekman tonight. It has been deemed safe for occupancy.
161 William will be closed on Wednesday, April 19, as an additional precaution.
On Wednesday, April 19, all classes will resume as normal except those held in 161 William. Those classes will shift to a remote format and students should reach out to their faculty for further information. Faculty and staff with offices in 161 William should shift to remote work for Wednesday, April 19. Please stay in contact with your department chairperson/supervisor for additional information.
