Travel Restrictions & Quarantine Procedures
Students who travel outside of Pennsylvania for more than 24 hours
will have the following three options:

  1. Parent/Guardian must produce evidence of a negative COVID-19 test for their student within 72 hours of returning to PA; or
  2. Place student in quarantine for 10 days upon returning to PA without testing; or 
  3. Place student in a 7-day quarantine with a negative test on or after day 5 of quarantine.
Scenario A
Student travels out of state for 24+ hours, and gets tested for COVID before returning to Pennsylvania. 
  • Student is able to produce a negative COVID test.
  • Student is able to return to school on their scheduled return date.

Please note: It is highly unlikely that a test can be obtained on January 1, 2021, and/or that results will be available before January 4, 2021.  
Scenario B
Student travels out of state and either cannot or will not get tested for COVID.  
  • When student arrives home, they must quarantine for ten (10) days.
  • In order to return to school on their scheduled return date, student must return to Pennsylvania and begin 10-day quarantine before returning to school.

Please note: Students will need to remain in virtual instruction during quarantine dates.

Example: Student returns to Pennsylvania on January 3, 2020, the student will need to remain in virtual instruction until Wednesday, January 13, 2020.
Scenario C
Student travels out of state and is unable to get tested and produce a negative test result before returning to Pennsylvania.  
  • When a student returns to Pennsylvania, they need to quarantine for (7) seven days. 
  • In order for a student to return to school, they would need to get tested for COVID on or after day 5 of quarantine.

Example: If the student returns to Pennsylvania on January 7, 2020, the student will need to remain in virtual learning until Friday, January 15, 2021.
RETURN TO SCHOOL SCHEDULE:
  • Monday, January 4, 2021: Low incidence Special Education
  • Monday, January 11, 2021: Remaining Special Education
  • Monday, January 11, 2021: Group A Hybrid Students K-12
  • Thursday, January 14, 2021: Group B Hybrid Students K-12
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
  1. UMTSD will require students to quarantine after traveling outside of PA - given that we have virtual options to prevent students’ learning from being disrupted.
  2. If at any time you experience COVID-19 symptoms you should seek a test and/or medical advice. You must also quarantine per the guidelines set forth by the MCOPH. Please refer to THIS VISUAL when deciding whether or not to come to school.
