We want to start by saying again how sad we are to not be able to start the 2020-2021 school year off in person. We promise that as soon as we are allowed to open our campus back up, we will and we are ready.
While our physical campus is closed, we want to assure you that we do have an extensive plan to continue our high-quality education through online class instruction. Our teachers will use the Zoom app to teach lessons virtually and all class materials will be uploaded on iTunes U. Each student’s iPad will become their virtual classroom and we will continue to follow the regular block schedule.
Please note, August 4th, originally scheduled as Orientation, is now a Gold Day.
Teachers will take roll at the beginning of each session and the normal attendance policy still applies. If students are unable to log on to a class session for any reason, the absences need to be cleared by a parent with Mrs. Burns via
or phone call. Students are expected to maintain the same level of respect during their virtual classes as they would in a normal classroom setting. Parents are not allowed in the virtual classroom when students are on Zoom with their instructors.
As a reminder, we will be utilizing Zoom for all meetings with Garces staff, faculty members and parents. For example, if you need to meet with your child's counselors, the dean, the business office, etc. a Zoom meeting will be set up.
Additionally, students who are still missing a class on their schedules will need to email their counselor to schedule a meeting. Each student should have seven classes total. All other schedule changes will be addressed following the first week of classes.
Below you will find links to the expected dress code for students during this time, the discipline policy, Zoom expectations and instructions for students and a list of all teachers’ ZOOM ID numbers students need to log into their class meetings.
