We are committed to your safety and wellbeing - as well as the safety and wellbeing of the children and families you serve - and want to share some information about how to best prepare for a potential massive outbreak of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Please refer to the recent CT Office of Early Childhood memo
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that "it expects the Coronavirus disease 2019 to spread across the United States as the number of cases continues to grow worldwide. While the immediate risk to the American public is believed to be low at this time, there are steps that we can all take to prepare."
also offers guidance to child care programs to plan, prepare and respond to Coronavirus disease 2019.
All Our Kin is working on a plan to respond to Coronavirus, which will include the potential for remote/virtual learning and networking. In the meantime, we recommend that you all take the following steps to stay healthy, and encourage you to share this information with the families in your program.
There are simple everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. These include:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Be sure adequate supplies are readily available in bathrooms and other wash areas. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
Remind children and any staff to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Remind children and any staff to cover their mouths and noses with a tissue or sleeve (not hands) when coughing or sneezing.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick and encourage those who are ill to stay home.
Follow your existing protocols, including exclusion policies, for children and any staff presenting as ill or who may have been exposed to contagious disease.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces according to product directions and program policy.
We realize this is a complex situation that is changing quickly. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us and we'll do our best to respond.
