PLACEMENT TESTING

Dear Inaugural Amana West Families,

We are so excited for your child to be joining us for the 2022-23 school year!

On May 14th, we will be conducting new student placement testing for all incoming 1st-3rd grade students. This placement test will give us insight into what skills and standards your student has already mastered, and gives us the knowledge and tools we need to ensure they are placed in the classroom environment that best suits their needs.

Families will have the option to submit qualifying current testing scores in lieu of testing at Amana Academy West Atlanta.  If the qualifying scores are not submitted, your child will be required to attend the testing session held on May 14th. 

Please submit current Reading and Math standardized test scores from the 2021-22 school year.  Standardized test examples include:

• i-Ready (Most current mid year or end of year evaluation) 
• ITBS (21-22 results)
• Fastbridge (Most current mid year or end of year evaluation)
• MAP (Most current mid year or end of year evaluation)
• STAR (Most current mid year or end of year evaluation)

Please reply to this email, and attach the required documentation. If you do not submit the required documentation by May 6th, we will schedule a time for your student to come in person to be assessed at Amana West on May 14th.

NEWS AND NOTES

We had so much fun at our Meet & Greet for enrolled families last weekend - thank you to everyone who came to meet the teachers, pick up your swag bags, and get to know your fellow Amana West families.

If you weren't able to attend, no worries! We've got several more opportunities on the horizon to meet staff members, ask questions and pick up swag. In the meantime, be sure to fill out the PTO Interest Form to let us know how you would like to be involved next year. You can also go ahead and order your Founding Parent T-Shirt.

We also encourage you to join the Amana Academy West Atlanta Parent Connection Facebook group. This is intended to be a virtual space where you can connect with other parents and get to know one another.

REFER A FRIEND!

Do you have friends or family members who are looking for a different educational option for their son or daughter? We've still got a few available spots in 1st and 2nd grades, and we'll enter you in a drawing for a voucher for one FREE embroidered uniform item from French Toast Uniforms if a family that you refer completes the enrollment process (including all required paperwork). Just tell them to give us your first and last name when they complete the pre-enrollment application and as soon as they complete their enrollment, you'll be entered in the drawing.

Come join us from 3PM - 6PM and support our school at Mooyah for some delicious burgers and shakes! Fully enrolled families who weren't able to attend the meet & greet can also pick up their swag bags. This is our first Family Fun Night, and we want you to be a part of it!

May 3 or 12, 2022

Have you had a chance to tour the campus yet? If not, we've just opened up an in-person tour and info session on May 3 or May 12 at 5PM. You can register via Eventbrite to let us know you're coming! Please note, these will be the last campus tours of the school year because Girl Scouts will be ramping up their Summer Camp programming.

All incoming Kindergarten families are invited and encouraged to join us on May 14 from 10AM - 11:30 AM for our first annual Kindergarten Round-up. This is a great opportunity to find out what skills you and your student can be working on throughout the spring and summer to ensure they're fully prepared to start Kindergarten with us in the fall.
