Greetings!

We are excited to share our revised schedule for opening school this fall and the first semester. As we previously communicated, we plan to open campus for in-person learning. We believe in the power of person-to-person instruction, community, and the Colorado Rocky Mountain School experience. The recommendations for in-person learning focus on space, activities, and minimizing the number of people with whom you interact. All of these recommendations play to our strengths; we are a small school on a large and beautiful property of 320+ acres. We have worked with health officials, medical professionals, lawyers, the Governor’s office, and the CRMS administrative team to understand these recommendations and craft a plan. We will share more details about our plan soon, but right now we want to communicate important information about arrival dates, opening days, and the first-semester schedule.

Our priority is, of course, the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. This plan is designed to bring students back to campus in a way that allows for an appropriate quarantine period, an engaging orientation program for new students, the collective gathering of our whole-school community, and the start of classes.

As you would expect, the start of school must look different this year compared to years past. At the same time, as we look at the changes, we are confident that the power of programming we have provided over the years remains as vibrant as ever.

The Revised Opening Days and Fall 2020 Schedule can be found  here .

A key date to note is the arrival to campus for boarding students. Returning boarding students coming from out-of-state are asked to arrive on campus on August 16th for a 14-day quarantine period. Returning boarding students coming from within Colorado are expected on campus August 29th and will be asked to quarantine at home for 14 days prior to driving to campus. Returning day students should come to campus on August 30th (after doing a 14-day quarantine at home), which will be a trip prep day for an all-school Fall Trip that will run from August 31st - September 4th.

We are sharing this schedule with you now so that you can make the necessary arrangements for student travel. At this time, we have received approval from the Governor’s office to move forward with our plan for in-person learning and will continue to work with the county on guidelines to keep our community safe. We anticipate that the situation will continue to evolve, but we are a small and nimble organization well versed in managing risk. We are prepared to pivot quickly as new information is presented.

You may have questions around this revised schedule and we welcome those. If you have questions, please contact Beth Smith , Parent Relations Manager.

Enjoy your summer and watch for additional communication from us throughout the summer. Together with you, we are committed to forging new paths as a CRMS community. We look forward to having with us this August.
