The Children’s Commission through its conference partner, Texas Center for the Judiciary, will offer 25 scholarships for qualifying judges to attend the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges’(NCJFCJ) 82nd Annual Conference, to be held on July 28-31, 2019 in Orlando, Florida. This year’s conference will feature plenary sessions on family law, juvenile justice, child welfare, and family violence, as well as break-out sessions featuring practical and innovative solutions on these same topics. To be eligible for a scholarship, participants must hear civil child welfare cases. Additionally, all applicants must agree to attend the Children’s Commission annual Child Welfare Judges Conference, to be held October 21-23, 2019, in Austin, Texas. Preference is given to judges who hear a high percentage of child welfare cases.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is midnight on April 12, 2019.
Awardees must complete a post-conference survey to receive reimbursement, which is limited to registration fees and conference-related expenses such as travel, lodging, and meals, up to $2,000. Any additional expenses must be covered by the scholarship recipient. All scholarship recipients will also receive a one-year NCJFCJ membership. The NCJFCJ is an 82-year old judicial organization which is recognized nationally for providing cutting edge and multidisciplinary training, technical assistance, research, and resources to assist juvenile and family court system professionals.
