Resource Letter:
For Judges Handling Child Protective Services Cases
August 6, 2019
Learning Opportunity for Judges Who Hear CPS Cases Involving Infants and Toddlers
The Children’s Commission is pleased to offer reimbursement for travel-related expenses for up to ten judges to attend the Texas Cross Site Learning Retreat on Infants and Toddlers experiencing the child welfare system, being held in Dallas on October 10-11, 2019, and hosted by First3Years . This event is an opportunity for judges, attorneys, DFPS employees, providers, and other stakeholders to identify and share effective policies and practices that impact infants and toddlers in the child welfare system.

This statewide event is aimed at helping participants to pool resources that can aid in professional development, evaluation, and building a statewide community that is concerned with and responsive to the needs of infants and toddlers experiencing child abuse or neglect. Several sessions will focus on the opportunity for partnership with judges and attorneys to encourage successful reunification. Keynote speaker Dr. Charles Zeanah of Tulane University will speak to practices that support attachment amid transitions and reunification planning.

The Cross Site registration is free, and the event registration and full agenda can be found here: Texas Cross Site for Infants and Toddlers

If you are interested in attending this conference and need travel reimbursement in order to attend, please submit your request by August 23 at the following link: Travel Reimbursement Scholarship
