The Children’s Commission is offering judicial scholarships to both of the 2024 National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) conferences. Up to 17 reimbursement scholarships for Texas judges are available for the NCJFCJ 2024 National Conference on Juvenile Justice on March 17-20, 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio and the NCJFCJ 87th Annual Conference on July 21-24, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. Judges wishing to attend both conferences can indicate their preference in their application. More information about the conferences and NCJFCJ membership is available on the NCJFCJ website.

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must hear civil child welfare cases. Preference will be given to judges who have larger percentages of their docket dedicated to child welfare cases. The scholarship will take the form of reimbursed registration fees and allowable conference-related expenses, such as travel, lodging, and meals, up to $2,000 total per conference. Any additional expenses must be covered by the scholarship recipient.

Please note, the application period for these scholarship opportunities will close at midnight on Thursday, December 7, 2024. The Children’s Commission will notify all applicants of the status of their scholarship application by Friday, December 15, 2024.
