Three new juvenile law bench cards on detention hearings, certification hearings, and sealing juvenile records are now available at no cost for judges handling juvenile law cases. The bench cards provide a quick reference to applicable legal standards and practice tips. The bench cards were developed with the assistance of the Children’s Commission Juvenile Justice Committee, which is composed of 15 members of the judiciary from throughout Texas.
A limited number of laminated print copies were distributed to attendees at the inaugural Judicial Conference on Juvenile Justice hosted by the Children’s Commission in August 2026. Additional copies are available for download on the Children’s Commission’s website.
The Children’s Commission plans to develop other resources to support judges presiding over juvenile law cases. Please contact CCJuvenile@txcourts.gov with suggestions for additional bench card or training topics.
