Trial Skills Training Application Deadline Extended to
Friday, May 27, 2022
The Children’s Commission’s Trial Skills Training application deadline has been extended to midnight on Friday, May 27, 2022. This will be the final opportunity to apply for this in-person, interactive training this year.

Designed for less experienced attorneys handling child welfare cases who want to improve their litigation skills, the Children’s Commission’s Trial Skills Training will be taught over Zoom on August 24, 2022 and in-person at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Marcos, Texas on August 31- September 1, 2022. This unique, realistic, and effective interactive training is limited to 21 participants (7 attorneys representing DFPS, 7 parents’ attorneys, and 7 children’s attorneys). Taught by experienced faculty, the training includes lectures, demonstrations, and practice sessions that cover critical skills needed for both the physical and virtual courtroom such as laying evidentiary foundation and entering exhibits, conducting effective direct and cross examinations, and impeachment of expert witnesses.

For more information and to submit an application for the training, please visit the Trial Skills Training webpage. Questions may be sent to CCTraining@txcourts.gov.
