The Children’s Commission will provide scholarships to up to 33 qualified attorneys and judges to cover registration costs for the virtual conference. Registration fees will be paid directly to NACC for each recipient, and NACC will register all Commission scholarship awardees.
To meet the criteria for a scholarship, attorney applicants must currently represent DFPS or take appointments on the CPS docket and be in good standing with the State Bar of Texas and with their appointing or presiding judge. Additionally, qualifying attorneys must be supported by their appointing or presiding judge. Judges with applicants from their jurisdiction will be notified by the Children’s Commission and asked to respond regarding the applicant’s suitability for the NACC scholarship. Judicial applicants must hear civil child welfare cases.
All applicants must agree to participate in the virtual training by attending the live sessions and/or the archived sessions no later than September 28, 2020 and commit to completing a post-event survey from the Children’s Commission. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until all spots are filled. Early applications are strongly encouraged due to the limited number of applications and this year’s brief application period.
