Trial Skills Training Application Deadline is Friday, April 23, 2021
Designed for less-experienced attorneys handling CPS cases who want to improve their litigation skills, the Children’s Commission’s Trial Skills Training will be taught virtually over Zoom on August 26, 2021 and September 1 and 2, 2021. The training is limited to 21 attorneys, evenly divided into three practice groups comprised of seven attorneys who represent DFPS, seven parents’ attorneys, and seven children’s attorneys.
 
The application deadline is midnight on Friday, April 23, 2021. This will be the final opportunity to participate in Trial Skills Training this year. For more information and to submit an application for the training, please visit the Trial Skills Training webpage.
TBLS Child Welfare Law Specialization Application Deadline is
May 10, 2021
The Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS) is currently accepting applications to become board certified in child welfare law, and the application filing deadline is Monday, May 10, 2021. Successful applicants will be notified in the summer of 2021 of their ability to sit for the certification exam in the fall of 2021. The Children’s Commission will continue to reimburse exam fees for attorneys who pass the exam and become certified as detailed on the Commission’s website.
