Dynamics of Family Violence & Considerations for Child Welfare Cases

The Children’s Commission will host a webinar on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. entitled “Dynamics of Family Violence & Considerations for Child Welfare Cases.”


The webinar will be presented by Barbra Grimmer, Policy Coordinator at the Texas Council on Family Violence. The session will address the prevalence of family violence and the array of family violence services, as well as the impact of family violence on survivors and on children. The presentation will also review protective actions of survivor parents in the context of child welfare cases as well as tactics that abusive parties may use in the courtroom. Finally, judges will learn strategies for responding to family violence dynamics in the courtroom and in final orders.


MCLE credit is pending, including family violence credit for judges. This presentation will be archived, and materials will be available on the Children’s Commission website following the live webinar.
