Now Available: Ties that Bind - Supporting Kinship Care Webinar

A recording of the recent Children’s Commission webinar entitled “Ties that Bind—Supporting Kinship Care.” is now available on the Children’s Commission’s On-Demand Training and MCLE webpage.



The webinar addressed unique considerations for formal and informal kinship caregivers, such as identifying legal, financial, and mental health barriers; improving communication; navigating safety plans; bridging service gaps; and accessing resources. Speakers offered practice tips as well as strategies to better support kin first placement goals while balancing child safety, family reunification, and permanency planning.

 

The State Bar of Texas approved 1.0 hour of MCLE for the webinar. This course was approved by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization for 1.0 hour of certification and recertification continuing legal education requirements for attorneys and paralegals in the specialty fields of Child Welfare Law and Family Law.
