A joyful education for the head, hands and heart!
Dear Fellow Parents:

Each day seems a little stranger than the last, uncharted territory indeed! But here we are, hoping this finds you and your family well. Teachers have begun formulating and implementing ways to continue to engage students from afar, to the extent possible. They will continue to be in touch as plans emerge and evolve.

Our priority as an Admin Team is to serve as a bridge to help families stay connected during this time. Even though we’re staying home, it still takes a village! The community that has been built up here is among the most beloved aspects of our school, and that shouldn’t change now. We have been discussing not only how to stay connected, but how we might deepen our connections during this time. And we’re open to ideas!

Following are a few updates and invitations to do just that:

While you can count on the Admin Team to send email communication and updates on the regular, we have activated a Facebook Parent Community (a closed group separate from our public Facebook page) to provide a platform that is more interactive. If you are on Facebook, please request (or accept our invitation) to join this network. Stay connected with fellow parents, share ideas, ask questions, and find answers here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/347155109244686/

If you haven’t yet listened or subscribed to the PRWS podcast, now is the time! Catch up on some of the conversations and interviews to date (our most recent was a two-part interview with Maureen Karlstad, Interim 5th Grade Teacher, about what brought her to Waldorf education and how it aligns with her personal philosophy of teaching—good stuff)! We will continue to record episodes in the coming weeks.  Listen directly from our website and/or via your favorite podcast player: https://pleasantridgewaldorf.org/pleasant-ridge-today-podcast-links/

Admin Office Hours This Week: 2-6pm Monday-Thursday

An Admin Team Member will be at the school Monday-Thursday this week should you need to call or stop in (to drop off items such as raffle tickets for instance).  If you plan to pick up your child(ren)’s belongings, please wait for teachers to be in touch regarding when these items will be available in the school lobby.  We do ask that only parents come in to pick these items up, and refrain from visiting classrooms.   Office hours may change in coming weeks, though we'll be sure to communicate if and when this occurs.

Although the Family Fun Night gathering has been cancelled, we plan to move forward with the drawing on the front steps of the school as scheduled. While WI gaming laws mandate that the drawing be open to the public, we ask that folks join us virtually if you’re able!

Viroqua Area School District is providing meals for families who would like to participate. All children 18 years and younger who live in the Viroqua area district are eligible for breakfast and lunch each day at no cost. This includes private school and homeschooled children. Meals are also available for a cost of $7.00 each day to adults, which includes breakfast and lunch. If you elect to participate and receive meals, you must complete and submit the following online form so VAS may plan their meal program accordingly: https://forms.gle/5MNqND4JvawdThaWA

Thanks, All! Looking forward to all the creative ways we can be in community during this time.

Be well,

PRWS Admin Team
