Important Information from Serra High School: November 24, 2020
Dear Serra Parents and Guardians,

We wish you all a special Thanksgiving! We would like to take the time to express our sincere appreciation to our Serra community for your confidence, perseverance and support throughout the semester.  We are deeply thankful and extend to you our best wishes for a happy and healthy Thanksgiving weekend.

We have enjoyed having our upper division students on campus these past two weeks in hybrid learning and look forward to welcoming our lower division students on campus beginning on December 7. We thank you for your patience as we continue to deliver more information about the schedule for the weeks leading up to the Christmas break.

Parent Survey:
We would like to hear from parents of upper division students regarding your experience of hybrid learning and are asking parents of juniors and seniors to complete our Parent Survey.  This information will help us make adjustments in preparation for the on-campus arrival of our freshmen and sophomores.

Bell Schedule adjustment:
As a reminder, we have adjusted the B-day schedules for the remainder of the semester for both upper and lower division students. The lunch period has been eliminated. Teachers will display announcements in their sixth period class starting at 12:25 p.m., and students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. once announcements are completed. A-days will remain the same.

Last Week of School: 
All classes will meet the week of December 14 through December 18 for the last week of the semester. Teachers will administer end-of-the-semester assessments for their classes. These assessments are not traditional semester exams, but are being administered to ensure student understanding of the material. Attendance is critical that week since it is the end of the semester.

Lower Division Parents: 
A webinar will be held on November 30 to outline information for lower division hybrid instruction that will begin December 7. A link will be sent out in the coming days. Parents will be asked to commit to in-person hybrid instruction by December 2 at noon to afford teachers time to plan instruction and assessments and modify seating charts. Students who opt out of attending class in person will need to attend classes over Zoom or they will be marked absent. Families that are self-quarantining for 14 days because of travel or large gatherings can still opt in to attend in-person classes the week of December 14 through December 18. Our goal is to maintain every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of our entire school community.
