Important Information from the Health Office

Dear Beaver Families,

Before orientation kicks off next week, we wanted to share some important information from the Health Office. Please see below for information about daily attestation, COVID protocol, Magnus information, and medication. And as a reminder, all students must wear a mask while on campus.

Daily Attestation

How does it work? The form includes a symptom checklist including taking your child’s temperature at home. Based on the responses to the symptom checklist, you will receive a message through the app signaling whether or not you should be sending your child to school. See sample questions.

When should this be completed?

Please complete the daily attestation form in Magnus each morning.

Middle School by 7:30 a.m.
Upper School by 8:30 a.m.

This should be done prior to your child’s departure for school, or before their school day begins online (the latter being a way for us to keep a general read on the health of our full community each day).

How will this help?

Anyone who is not feeling well will stay home, this is one of the most important preventative measures we can take. Completing the form every day, even on days when your child is not expected to be on campus, will give the health office important data about the physical health of the community.

COVID Protocol at BVR

What happens when a student has symptoms at school?

Any student that is not feeling well at school should be seen in the Health Office.

When a student is experiencing any symptoms associated with the virus they will be isolated and need to be picked up by a parent/guardian or emergency contact. The Health Office will advise you on next steps of care for your child.
Parents/guardians will need to coordinate pick up quickly so we appreciate you creating a plan for this in advance.

Communication plan

When a student is sent home with COVID related symptoms, all identified potential close contacts will be notified, and then will receive a follow-up communication regarding any test results received. Close contacts that are notified will not need to quarantine during the test result waiting period.

Follow up communication will include directives on current next steps of care, and any related quarantine requirements (depending on test results).

Magnus Health Form Reminder

All forms must be completed in Magnus by 9/8.

If your child’s physical appointment is upcoming, please email the nurse at [email protected].

All students must have a flu shot on record by 12/31/20. Submit documentation in Magnus by either (1) uploading a recent immunization record that includes a 2020 flu shot or (2) providing a receipt of administration from a clinic.

Medication

Does your child need to take medication at school?

Drop-off directions

New meds can be dropped off in the Health Office by the student.
Parent drop-off must be coordinated by appointment with the nurse.
Medication must be delivered to the school nurse in a pharmacy or manufacturer's labeled container. Medications that are improperly labeled cannot be accepted. No more than thirty days worth of the medication will be accepted.

Self-carry form

Students can carry their own medication by completing the Self Administration/Self Carry form.
