I hope you all had a safe and fun July 4th holiday.
Newly enacted Arizona legislation, effective June 30, 2021, no longer allows the School to require that face coverings be worn during school hours or on school property for elementary and middle school students.
Wearing cloth face coverings is a well-researched preventative measure in mitigating the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In light of this, we strongly encourage students to continue to wear face coverings while at school. At the same time, we respect each family’s decision regarding their child’s wearing of a face covering and assure you that all students will be made to feel welcome regardless of their family’s decision.
We will continue to take the steps necessary to prevent the spread of the virus, as we have done since the beginning of the pandemic, including screening for symptoms, isolating students and staff exhibiting symptoms, and following the isolation and quarantine requirements established by the county.
This latest ruling does not apply to the Summer Camp programs on the Early Childhood Campus because those programs are licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services rather than the Arizona Department of Education. Therefore, at this time, those students (except for Infants and Toddlers) are to continue wearing face coverings.
Meanwhile, we are preparing for the upcoming school year and sending back-to-school information out soon. So please watch for those emails.
